Locked and old threads

i was just wondering why mods and admins dont delete locked and old threads. i know that they don't because it takes extra time and after it still takes up space. but are those the only reasons? i was just kind of wondering because a lot of new members post in old threads un knowingly.

We don't delete them because they still serve a purpose. If someone is looking for an answer to a question they can use our search function and find threads from years ago. Even if something is locked it doesn't mean the information contained is irrelevant, there are many reasons why threads get locked, but still the information in them may still be of use.
