they say if an athlete is real fit and they just sit and do nothin, they would be out of shape for the next 3 days and for them to get back in shape it takes them 3 months

I think you have no idea what you're talking about and just making up random statistics, which isn't helpful at all. It doesn't quite work like that. If that happened you would be able to be looking at your muscles and basically watching them shrink, which doesn't happen.

Anyways, I don't know exactly how long it takes to lose muscle, it woul be different for everyone most likely, but probably at this point if you have a satisfactory amount of muscle it should just be about maintaining, which isn't as rigorous. So you can cut down safely, but you may just want to continue going to the gym a little more regularly, and make sure to talk to a trainer, as they will give expert advice that we at VT will not be able to give.

It all depends on the person. If its not maintained then it will slowly start to erode away. 2-3 months is a long time and there's no doubt you've lost some. Unless you want to lose everything that you've gained, I highly recommend you go back. Otherwise you're just shooting yourself in the foot.

Ant is right when he says that it depends on the person

Either way, you will lose muscle mass, and sometimes it's very quickly. I heard a guy online didn't lift for 3 weeks and his max bench dropped down 30 pounds. Another guy I know didn't lift for winter break and his max went down about 30, too

Really it takes a lot of discipline to keep lifting, so don't stop! It keeps you in shape, hot, and you won't run the risk of losing muscle mass
