I remember a wile ago when u first updated the shoutbox you had a feature where it would post in there every time a new post was made, also if i recall correctly some people liked the feature, but considered it a nuisance b/c they thought it cluttered up the shoutbox. Anywho if your interested This (http://www.overclock.net/live.php) is something that might be interesting to consider. It is a separate page that updates automaticly every time a new post is made, i could see this being useful for those that liked the new post feature in the shoutbox, i guess the only thing to consider is server load, and since i don't really have knowledge of how the mod is written i can't say how much it might affect performance.

p.s I am not sure of the name of mod/hack but if your interested, ill be happy to pm/email the webmaster.

There are soo many posts on this forum. So it may increase activity but it may get a little annoying...so idk

i agree with john. the shoutbox would just be filled up with new post notifications.

But isn't that the same as the "New Posts" button?

Yeah it pretty much is except it isn't "live."

There isn't much benefit to it being live because while we are a decently active site, we don't get a half-dozen topics posted per minute. Not to mention it would probably kill the server.

I say use New Posts. It allows non-moderators to search for new posts every 30 seconds.
