Blogs in "New Posts" area?

I'm afraid not. The "New Posts" area is actually a unique search function. The blog add-on also has a search, but I'm almost certain it does not use the same search functions.

Though the Member Blogs should let you see the most recent blog entries on the main page (quite easily, too).
