Atonement

This is another poem written about my father. So, if you want, go ahead and comment. Just as you read this, think of how you would react if the same thing happened to you.

Pride.

Hello father.
Remember me?
Just in case you forgot,
I am your youngest of three.

You know, you left me with some questions,
First, why did you start something you can't finish?
Why the hell did you have kids?
Just to have them and from their lives you diminish!

It has been thirteen years of waiting,
Thirteen years of hurt,
I still want you to come back,
Just so you can continue to treat me like dirt.

I have had those five minute conversations,
Those two times you call per year.
I want those minutes to last for ages,
It will never happen, this is very clear.

I have tried to do your job,
I have tried to connect us,
I just wanted to know you,
It just isn't really worth the fuss.

You gave up on me,
Just thirteen years ago,
You left me and my mom,
You have made me hit an all time low.

Holding back the tears that I cried,
How I knew you would see,
A little bit of me.

You say you have changed,
you just rearranged.
Your heart isn't broken like you broke mine.
It all hurts in your mind.
But I have been the one to be kind.

I cry each night,
Knowing you will never be around,
I think I will just give up now,
I will no longer make a sound.
I am just going to hide... *down*

From your pride.

Thank you for finishing it, I couldn't wait to read it. It was worth the wait. It made me cry a little. I'm sad that it's true.

I can feel your pain through the words, you did a good job conveying your emotions into this piece! It's hard to find anybody who can effectively show what they're feeling.
