View Full Version : Replacing A Zipper?

A zipper on a new jacket of mine recently snapped in half and fell off in the dryer recently.
I'm a relative amateur at sewing so I would love to avoid it if at all possible.
Any tips for getting this sorted out? Are there any places where I could get it replaced? (A place like Joanns or something?)
The zipper itself is a size 5 and I really need to get it fixed asap.

I heard about using a paper clip as a temporary zipper. I'm not good at sewing either but do you have any friends or family member that know how to sew? Maybe they could help

I don't know if you can sew on a zipper? might have to take it to ta tailor/someone who does stuff like that
edit: yes I know tailors sew, but there is sometimes more to it then just sewing it

You can indeed sew on a zipper, but it's tricky. You can probably get it fixed at a tailor. I'm not sure if they have those at Joanns but you can probably find that out on their website.

Got it sorted out on Wednesday. Good as almost-new!
For people who are curious, I just ended up going to a cleaners place that's close to where I live and it took about 3 days for them to get it sorted out. (This was over the weekend mind you.) It was $10 (although the people tried to overcharge me when I tried to pick it up.)
I can't really say the place as it really was just a generic "Cleaners" place which we have about a hundred around here. But if you look around you can probably find one if you need it.
Regardless, minor life crisis averted! :D

The dry cleaners are great for that. They can usually fix just about anything that may be wrong on your clothes!!!!
