Amazon has a lot of speedo suits selling for $10-$12! I ordered some. I'm not totally comfortable wearing them yet but my goal is to be in good enough shape next spring/summer. I've always enjoyed swimming for exercise.

I don't want to show off or be weird, I just want to be good at swimming and resemble the guys who swim at my school. They aren't gay or showoffs, they wear the proper suit for the sport.

Starting monday I am going to start my program, mixing weights with cardio. If I can cut 1-2% body fat per month I should meet my goal.

Anyone else have fitness goals?

yes my goal is to be able to take off my shirt without making everyone puke because of how fat and hairy i am. Dont think about complaining about your body.

I have been on swim teams since middle school and if you are looking to loose weight the suit doesn't matter.

Speedos are for competition and are to increase your speed by decreasing drag. That means that it makes swimming easier. Most teams I'm on will train occasionally* in t-shirts to increase drag, which builds strength, so that when we compete we will be faster since the work will be easier. Think of it this way, if you train for a marathon with ankle weights and then on the day of the marathon you go without them, your legs will feel lighter and you will tire less easily.

If you are just swimming for exercise and not competition it doesn't matter what you wear.

*occasionally. It's also not a universal practice. Also this is more common for the my side of the team as the boys keep their body hair until competition.

I was anaemic for a couple years and quit all my sports so now I'm unfit as heck. I started swimming an hour twice a week in June and my goal is to get to a point where I can join my dads triathlon club and swim with them. I'm getting there and I think I do about 70-90x25 metres (its hard to count lengths when you're continuously swimming for an hour). I attempted to start running regularly but my friend quit on me and I don't have the motivation to run alone.
