Then give the girl a choice of cuisine.

Guide the decision from there...a compromise between planning and letting her have a choice...

Seems to me there is something else that's making you feel unsure about whether this is a good idea or not. It could be that your nervous, your first time asking a girl on a date or what ever.
To be honest, I think you'd get some really good advice from people if you let us in on the secret...

Sounds ok, however, there are a lot of details to be considered: transportation, your age, her age, okay with both sets of parents, first date with long time friend, first date with new friend, nice restaurant vs. fast food, casual date vs. serious date, etc.

Hope it works out for you and a fun time is had by all.
