View Full Version : Teachers that ruin your day

I just wanted to know if anyone else is in the same boat, and if anyone else has ideas to help.
Theres this one teacher (male, he teaches Chemistry) and je's taught me for two years and I have another two with him - he's taking me right through to GCSEs. I'm a good kid and understand Chemistry, it's not like I have some agenda against him and as far as I know he doesn't have a personal agenda against me.
The issue is (pardon my French), he's a dickhead. He has no teaching skills whatsoever so being in his class is just plain boring and he just isn't a nice person! Criticises you for no reason, picks on people, calls them out on issues they might be having, even teasing some students about their personal life sometimes. Oh, and he told us that our whole class had the same intelligence as the stools in the science lab and that we'd fail our exams, for sure. Great guy!
It's a common consensus amongst kids and parents that he isn't a nice guy, but he genuinely bothers him. I dread having him and Chemistry can ruin an otherwise great day. It's too late to ask for a teacher change since timetables are set in stone, so what else am I meant to do? I've tried being positive about the day but it's just hard.

My PE Teacher (male) hates me and looks for reasons to place me on detention or give me a large number of lines
My maths teacher (female) never holds back a punishment or a lecture either. I am so bad in maths she says I am lazy and bad at it on purpose
Both these teachers can ruin my day easy. At least my maths teacher tries to help me sometimes. My PE teacher just enjoys being on a power trip :mad:

Power trip is the right word. These people just love showing that they're in charge and they can do whatever they want.

Just few teachers are really skilled teachers.
I guess, in your case you cannot do much. Either you argue with your teacher all the time (that would be what I've done once) or you cover yourself and avoid to be a sitting duck.
For the method that I prefer, two conditions are absolutely essential::
Don't give a damn, to get bad grades, etc ...
... and above all -> you need the full support of your parents.

I don't have any currently since I'm not in school yet. However I had a theatre teacher who used to talk bad about me when I wasn't there. I had a teacher join in on kids bullying me. And I had a principal that thought I was faking being mentally ill when I was 7.

My PE teacher seems kinda mean and NEVER smiles. He keeps yelling instead of talking normally. I hope he calms down.

Bet he is post military. I have one lector that talks in a monotone and just about puts me to sleep every class period. I like the subject matter (career development) and feel it is important to my future, but wish I had a more enthusiastic teacher. I get more out of the class discussion than his lectures. He has yet to use any technology for presentations though the classroom is well equipped. :what::(

So far I only had one teacher that I "hated". She is an English teacher I had last year and was really mean to all of us. She was definitely not good at teaching and yelled a lot. Luckily she retired this year.

Yeah. I once had a teacher that would say the names of everyone who failed a test in front of the class, an it was just plain rude. i just ended up basically counting down the minutes for that class and was "sick" a lot of the test days, so i could make it up and would call out if i failed.

When we're talking about school where I am, it's pretty much common sense to know about eachother's fails and stuff because the classes are made up of up to 30 people (and are named by the grade: 7A, 7B, 7C, 8A, 8B etc) that each have a classroom assigned to them. Basically, in the morning we go to a classroom and stay there until the end of the day. Teachers come during each period to our class (or we go to the laboratories for Biology, Physics etc.) We tend to get closer because we spend 5 to 7 hours in the same room, we even spend the recess together.
My teachers...well almost every teacher ruins my day xD. My English teacher isn't very capable. Whenever she isn't sure about something regarding the lesson she asks me and I get named a teacher's pet by my classmates... Also, she has us buy some pretty expensive textbooks and workbooks each year and all that she does during class is that she reads the lessons from the book and then gives us homework from the workbook. Heck, I could do that myself without wasting another hour at school! Aside from that, she has a very VERY boring and monotone voice and I, "the angel of the class", almost fell asleep a few times.
The teacher that I hate the most is my History teacher. At first I admired him for being old-school and serious, but then I found out that he's a convinced comunist a**hole. He is well known within the school for his "pranks" (students write 1 up to 3 pages and then he says that they should rip those pages off because they've been writing bullsh*t). He has us write at a really fast pace and at home I noticed he contradicted himself more than once during the same lesson (Mixing up the Axis Powers in the first WW). I noticed it, but my classmates didn't...and then the lesson was in the test (imagine what happened xDDD). He is extremely unpredictable with tests and oral quizzes, he allows himself to use inappropiate language and make inappropiate jokes (one that annoyed the hell out of me was regarding a girl's skirt length). I truly hate that comunist a**hole and I hope I'll get on his good side -if he has any- and avoid his wrath. I'm not that great at History and it's going to be extremely difficult this year.
Wow, I didn't imagine I'd write that much....>_<. I'd say you should study a lot, even if it's by yourself and not using the teacher's notes. The internet and the textbook are your friends. In my country we have this "oral quiz" thing, where you stand up and are the center of attention while the teacher asks you stuff to give you a grade; it's mostly not announced. So even if the teacher picks on you, your knowledge should be perfect. M-Maybe get on his good side by being active in class and doing your homework and extra.

Some teachers act as if they hate their jobs, which I mean could be understandable but you are a teacher to teach and not be a miserable bastard. If you have the empathy levels and emotional levels of a teaspoon then it is not recommended that you become a teacher because kids looks to teachers for guidance and respect, not for hatred. It absolutely sucks that some teachers can literally cause children to stop liking a subject they once loved. It's a pathetic thing that they can have such power and abuse it in that sense.

Here in Serbia, people think that when you pay for education, you are a stupid person that is not good enough for the public system.
When I switched from private school to a public one, the English teacher disregarded me as a bad student before she even met me. Looks like she didn't get my past report cards for her subject.
She tried a few wise ass jokes to humiliate me, that didn't last long because I confronted her in front of everyone.
After 8 months it turned out I was best in class and she apologized to me in front of everyone.
I respected her because she is a good teacher, her methods are not ideal but she is good.
From all of this, I learned a few things. Be who you are and don't let them scare you. If you think you were under graded confront the teacher. Make them understand that you are here to receive their knowledge and get graded accordingly, and that is it.
A teacher can only ruin your day if you let them.
