What, apart from the physical attraction, is the main difference between romantic relationships and friendships? Are partners supposed to know more about you than your friends, and why are those boundaries in place?

Relationships tend to be clsoer than freindships, but not alwayd. The biggest diffrence is in a relationship you want to be woth the other person a LOT. Freindships not so much.

that is not true, some friends want to be with each other constantly but there is no romantic/sexual feelings of attraction

It is a hard line to decipher really. I am not even sure where it is

I think friendships are more relaxed. You can share everything with a friend and love them just as much as a partner (maybe even more). So aside from sex (unless its fwb), a friendship can basically provide what a relationship does, but that "obligation", jealousy and such isn't there.

Isn't it like how one should only have one best friend? A feeling of "ownership/exclusivity," if you will? That's how I see it.

Thats a good point, but you do get freinds with benfis sometimes. I'd say its more up to each person to decide what it means to them I guess?

The level of intimacy, I'd say. Not just physically, but also more intimate emotionally I suppose. It depends on the people involved.

sure but friends with benefits is more purely for sexual pleasure. I guess I associate romance with love. friends with benefits is more two people agreeing they want to fuck with no strings attached

As SethfromMI as said in an earlier post, there is a gray area between a friendship and a relationship because there is a level of emotional intimacy and trust involved in both, so minus the sex of the relationship, its very difficult to say. I think one has to create their own rules and boundaries in order to separate the two.
