-How old were you? 13/14
-Did you do it with your dad or by yourself? Myself haha
-If you did it with your dad, did you ask him or did he ask you? N/A
-If you did it by yourself, what was the reaction of your parents? Not much as it was just a little hairy moustache
-What was the reaction of your friends when they saw you had shaved? Not much as I tend to shave regularly so it doesn't look like I'm growing hair that much when it was bum fluff
-How long after your first shave did you shave again? A week.

Finally, what would you think the best tactic is for ME (given my story) to shave, using my questions to answer. I say you go and buy your own razors and cream but you don't need cream and then fill the sink with warm-hot water and wet your face a few times or the areas that you'll shave with hot water and begin to shave...just remember to keep cleaning your razer after each stroke ;) and then you're all set :)

I know how to shave but I'm reluctant to do it by myself because of what they might say.

So, I'm interested in your first shaving experiences.
-How old were you? 14
-Did you do it with your dad or by yourself? Myself
-If you did it with your dad, did you ask him or did he ask you? N/A
-If you did it by yourself, what was the reaction of your parents? Nothing
-What was the reaction of your friends when they saw you had shaved? Nothing
-How long after your first shave did you shave again? 3 or 4 days
-Could you also include any other details you think are relevant to my thread.

Finally, what would you think the best tactic is for ME (given my story) to shave, using my questions to answer. Just buy a few manual razors and shaving gel (works the best on reducing friction) and wash where you want to shave.Apply copious amounts of the gel to the shaving area and then shave with the grain(the way the hair follicle grows).Never against as that can cause sores and cuts.Consistently wash the razor with each stroke. When you feel satisfied, take a look in the mirror to see if you missed any areas and continue the steps above if you see more areas. If not, wash your face gently and then apply aftershave or moisturizers as your skin can feel dry or irritated after shaving.

Thank you!
No problem! Hope I helped!

Pretty much, a few months ago my dad told me that I need to start shaving and I want to but my mum was there so I felt awkward and walked away without saying anything. Since then, I've been waiting for him to tell me that I need to again and he hasn't and it's been about 3-5 months. I've talked to a few people on here and they've all pretty much gave me the same advice: just ask my dad to do it with me, or do it by myself because they won't say anything. I would do it by myself but I'm not sure what my mum and dad will say. Also, I would ask my dad but I don't feel comfortable talking to him about things related to growing up and puberty.

So, I'm interested in your first shaving experiences.

i think you should just do it and get it over with man, all the situations are much worse in your head than whats actually gonna happen so you might as well shave and get it over with and by the second or third time if anything is said people will be over it

I don't think your parents will say anything negative to you about shaving, they will probably be happy to see you "become a man", and because it is a cleaner look :), hope my little knowledge helped :P

To be honest you've already mentionned your two choices, and in my mind you should ask your dad to do it with him because then you're sure to do it right. I know it's embarrassing, I don't usually talk to my dad about puberty stuff but it's not the end of the world, plus I'm sure he'll understand. He probably had to do the same when he was your age.

Jake,
my advice is be confident and ask your dad how to start and for a razor. i think since you didn't respond he may be waiting for you to approach him.

By myself

They didn't think I started to shave till 15. Whenthey worked it out dad said my older brother would be jealous.

Friends said nothing I think it's something we knew people would start to do.

2 days later

It was as only my upper lip till I got to 13 then when on to sideburns and neck.

Jake can you not add it to a shopping list ? They will know your writing. If not let your dad catch you using his razor and he'll probably get you some

You should shave if you think the hair is annoying, and if you have no probs with it, leave it alone, also if you do shave, do it by yourself, its not that hard

I think you should just shave, if you want to do it. Don't do it to get a response from anyone, do it because you want/need to

Tbh I was in your situation and the other day I just done it cause I thought it looked better. No need to tell your parents cause once its done, its done and they can't really be mad at you - its all part of growing up. :)

JUST DO IT!
But in all seriousness, I felt the same; embarrassed. I was kind of waiting for my dad to ask me about shaving until he did and he taught me how to do it. I think it's best to take advantage of the time when the topic is out there to tell him. It's no big deal really though, he will definitely understand. If that's not the case for you, I'd *borrow* a razor from your dad and use it and shave while he's not home. After my first shave, I started doing this whenever I needed and no one was home. I don't see why anyone but your dad would be asking you about your facial hair gone, but if it's a case, how horribly could it really go?
