"Hello Amy. There is something I have wanted to get off my chest for some time, so can I talk to you in private for a moment please?"

In private:
"I dont want you to be startled by this and I dont want to put pressure on you, but here goes. Ive grown very attracted to you and Id not only love to be your boyfriend. It would make me very proud and happy... I dont need your answer right away, so take your time and think about it."

If youre affraid to be made fun of, this should be safe. She wouldnt want to make fun of you after this.
