Okay so after reading another post on here, I wanted to have a list of phrases that for you, would have you pounding the emergency stop button and jumping out of the relationship. I think people aren't sure what is normal or not, so this list may help people understand if the relationship is abusive or wrong.
For example;
If a guy said 'You need to respect me'.
What are some of yours?

"You won't find someone better if you leave me." I think I saw this in one thread and i feel such statements are indications of an abusive relationship out of which it is best to get out fast.

"I will treat you like a princess."
That's code for, "I don't know how to treat you like a person."

"It doesnt matter if Im wrong. Its not even relevant. Im a man and youre only a girl, so that means you just have to do as I say"
"I dont have to hit you again, do I?"

Look, I just don't want you talking to other people. Or anything super possessive like that. It is fine that everyone feels insecure or jealous but it gets to a point where you come off basically saying that I'm untrustworthy and at that point I'm done.

This one seems completely okay to me, but I think it depends on how it is being said.
For the 'hit you again' suggestion from another poster, that's a bit more obvious than I was thinking :eek:

"It's not like your irreplaceable." Or "Go ahead, leave. You'll just come back to me."
I used to have a relationship with this guy, and one of my "friends" (former crush, and our friendship was scratchy) literally said to me "It's not going to last, watch." - were no longer friends

"I don't want you hanging out with any other guys/girls." Basically means they're jealous and controlling and I'm not about that life.

Haha I'm learning so much new slang... Comparing to exes unfavourably is a really low move, if she/he was that great, go back to them -.-

Why are you opposed to a guy wanting to be respected and bringing it to his gf's attention if he feels she's not respecting him?
