It seems all of my Catholic friends are cut. One non-Catholic friend even made a joke about it being a mandatory thing to one of my Catholic friends. So I'm wondering, if you're Catholic are you cut? Also, is it something that's required?

It's not requirement. It has been used to deter boys from Jo In the past them become popular for being more hygienic.

It's Jewish people who have a requirement to be circumcised I believe. As Twin said, Catholics are very against masturbation because they see it as "spilling the seed of life" and circumcision can make it harder to masturbate because it destroys a lot of the feeling. However, a lot of people in America especially have taken to getting circumcised for pretty much fashionable reasons. The only real reason one should get circumcised is in a medical circumstance.

It is probably only their parents' decision.

It seems Latins and Mexicans in the US are less often circumcised, and they are Catholic, so I'd be surprised if there were some Catholic doctrine that encourages it.
Amongst average white folks in the US I don't think there's much of a difference between Protestants, Catholics or Mormons, etc. Families who participate in church activities are probably just generally more traditional and want to follow what they perceive as the proper path. I could be wrong, but I suspect it's just cultural. With circumcision in the US being the norm, it comes along as part of the package.

It definitely isn't something that is required like in other religions. I think it's more to do with what is standard in the country, ie cut in US, uncut in Europe. Having lived in Europe all my life the majority of catholics/guys in general are uncut but sure, there are a few guys I know who are cut, though that was primarily their parents decision.

what you mean it's required in Islam Jewish and Mormon beliefs and reccomend in many more and even books of christian and catholic states in many parts
Acts 15:1
[ Conflict over Circumcision ] And certain men came down from Judea and taught the brethren, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.”
John 7:22
Moses therefore gave you circumcision (not that it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and you circumcise a man on the Sabbath.
John 7:23
If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath, so that the law of Moses should not be broken, are you angry with Me because I made a man completely well on the Sabbath?
Romans 2:25
[ Circumcision of No Avail ] For circumcision is indeed profitable if you keep the law; but if you are a breaker of the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.
Romans 2:26
Therefore, if an uncircumcised man keeps the righteous requirements of the law, will not his uncircumcision be counted as circumcision?
Romans 2:25
Circumcision has value if you observe the law, but if you break the law, you have become as though you had not been circumcised.
Luke 2:21
[ Circumcision of Jesus ] And when eight days were completed for the circumcision of the Child, His name was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb.
islam reason The Holy Qur'an does not impose an obligation on parents to circumcise their children, but the prophet Mohammed is reported to have stated that "Circumcision is a sunnah (customary or traditional) for the men. Most references to male circumcision occur in the examples and traditions of the Prophet (peace be upon him). Therefore the scholars strongly recommend circumcision for male.
jewish
Circumcision is the removal of the foreskin of the penis. The rite of circumcision (brit milah) is one of the most ancient practices of Judaism. The commandment to circumcise male children was given to Abraham in the Torah (Genesis 17:7*14 and repeated in Leviticus 12:3):
And God said unto Abraham: 'And as for thee, thou shalt keep My covenant, thou, and thy seed after thee throughout their generations. This is My covenant ... every male among you shall be circumcised. And ye shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of a covenant betwixt Me and you. And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every male throughout your generations ... And the uncircumcised male who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that should shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken My covenant.

I was raise a catholic and I'm uncut like most of my catholic friends, the reason people stated to do it is because they thought its tougher for young boys to masturbate when cut. Now I don't know why some do and some don't I guess depends on the priest's preference. I think it should be consider child abuse if you circumcise only because of your religious believe

It is required by Jews. It was a sign of a covenant which started with Abraham, his son, the males in his household to signify they would stand a part from the rest of the world for God. For Christians, it is not a requirement.
I know it is the norm to be circumcised around here. never stopped me form having sex or masturbating haha. I am glad that I was, though I guess I have nothing to compare it too. it is a procedure you really want done at birth or young age if you are going to have it done which is why many parents have it done so early

Let me just correct u its Jewish people who I think have to be cut
Catholics are the opposite and don't encourage circumcision mainly because it's unnatural and doesn't actually help

It is Judaism that requires circumcision.Catholics are against the act of masturbation though, quoted many times in religious text.Masturbation is supposed to be hindered by circumcision but that proved false over the years. Now I believe it is just culture and a way of life.

Kellogg's Cornflakes were also invented by a religious extremist as a way to stop boys masturbating.
That worked out well then...

Here, most boys are circumcised. But I was raised Catholic, and there is never really any strong talk in favor of circumcision. I think Catholics just adjust to the cultural norm regarding circumcision where they are living.
