Hey guys and gals!

I'm studying Japanese and spent much of 2015 just keeping up with Japanese music to get the language pumped into my head, as a result I missed out on a lot of western music. Looking to find a few great albums(not individual songs, please, just full albums) (from 2015 only) and I'd appreciate some suggestions. :)

I'm open to any genre and any language - especially if you got music from your country to share! The one exception I'd make is Pop music: please don't post too much of it, just the best of the best. I'll be the first to admit that I like Pop music, but a lot of the albums in the genre are quickly thrown together cash-grab releases with one catchy single and I'm not in the mood to sit through a bunch of those. If the album went to #1, chances are I won't be all that interested. With exceptions, of course.

Anyway, I'll try to listen to every single recommendation in this thread unless it ends up too much. :D

So...help is appreciated. :)

(I'd list some of my personal favorites this year thus far, but I think that might influence what kind of stuff I get recommended so I'll hold off until later)

My top three for 2015 so far:
1.) To Pimp A Butterfly - Kendrick Lamar (lots of jazz/funk; you have to listen to the whole thing to really appreciate it)
2.) Love Story - Yelawolf (very nice blend of rock/rap/country)
3.) Mobile Orchestra - Owl City (most people I know hate this, but I'll let you decide :P)

I was actually listening to To Pimp A Butterfly as I was opening the thread! Coincidence! :) I can't really get into it, unfortunately(A$AP Rocky and Lupe Fiasco have released better hiphop albums this year, imo). I've given it 4 full listens spread out over months. I hate what I've heard from Owl City so far but I'll check out their new album. Will grab Love Story, too. Thanks!

I've outgrown my post-hardcore phase a few years ago, but I'll give you top picks a listen and work my way down further if I enjoy them. :)

I haven't listened to anything from 2015. I don't think I'll bother, either.

Thanks for the recommendations Fractured Silhoutte!
Already got a lot more here than I expected (I expected people to post 1-2 each :P), but I'll try to get through them all in the next few weeks. I made a similar thread on another forum and got a list of about 50 albums from there, too. With almost NO album turning up on both forums!

This. One hundred times over, this.

F.E.A.R. - Papa Roach
Holy War - Thy Art Is Murder
Younger Dreams - Our Last Night

Damn 2015 hasn't been a great year so far for me regarding music, 2014 was a fucking gold mine.

I'll hit you with Coldrain - Until The End (mid-2014) too, they're a Japanese post-hardcore band, they sing/scream in English and they're pretty Westernised [-]I know you're not so much into post-hardcore now but may as well give them a listen[/-].

Not a lot of my favourite bands have released albums this year; most of them were released towards the end of last year. The only one I can think of is Iron Maiden's new album which they released on Friday: The Book of Souls. It's a good album. I really enjoyed the first half but the second half was a little monotonous. Still, it's worth a listen.

Sufjan Stevens - Carrie & Lowell (minimal acoustic indie-folk)
Tame Impala - Currents (electronic psychedelic rock)
Circa Waves - Young Chasers (happy indie-rock)
Foals - What Went Down (indie-rock)
Aviation and the War (late 2014 but still a really good indie/alt/acoustic album)

At this point, "Skills in Pills" from Lindemann is my favourite. I don't remember that anything else gets released this year which is interesting for me.
