View Full Version : 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

Hi guys,

So it has been announced a few days ago that this September's UN conference will contain the formalization of a deal signed by more than 100 nations to solve many problems that plague our world today. The document "contains five sections, including the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 targets proposed by the Open Working Group (OWG) in 2014, with several revisions for specificity and consistency with international ambition. The document for consideration by the 69th UN General Assembly (UNGA) is expected to be finalized and made available ahead of the UN summit for the adoption of the agenda, which will take place from 25-27 September 2015."

Here is the link on the UN's Sustainable Development website if you want to read the full article (it's very interesting and contains all the steps towards these goals): https://sustainabledevelopment.un.org/post2015/transformingourworld

And here are the 17 goals they are aiming for:

Goal 1. End poverty in all its forms everywhere
Goal 2. End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture
Goal 3. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
Goal 4. Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all
Goal 5. Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls
Goal 6. Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all
Goal 7. Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all
Goal 8. Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all
Goal 9. Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation
Goal 10. Reduce inequality within and among countries
Goal 11. Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable
Goal 12. Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
Goal 13. Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts*
Goal 14. Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development
Goal 15. Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss
Goal 16. Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels
Goal 17. Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development
* Acknowledging that the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is the primary international, intergovernmental forum for negotiating the global response to climate change.

What do you think about this agenda? Do you think that it is a solid plan to better our world... Or just one more step towards a New World Order?

Also, it's being signed in September. If The Happening happens, I'm sure everyone is going to embrace it.

And a scary video about this for you to watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMj6BQ00BbM

Fun indie culture fact:
'We're stuck in the belly of this terrible machine and the machine is bleeding to death' is a quote from post-rock band GY!BE's Dead Flag Blues. The reference is sort of ironic since GY!BE are a group of anarcho-communists and the quote is a reference to late finance-capitalism.
The song in the background - it's faint - is the theme of the sequel of a film that GY!BE themselves wrote the theme to. The film being 28 Weeks Later and it's one of the most disappointing sequels of a time. 28 Days Later is still amazing though.
Just thought I'd add a bit more what the fuck to the thread.

Families have lots of children of the high rate of death amongst children. Wanting children is down to the towards children being net contributors to the families income - and being the best insurance against old age. The problem is that the economic benefit children as domestic and home-agricultural labourers provide means that access to education is then restricted. This feeds into problems for the next generation.

Botswana has a colossal rate of HIV and is one of the most prosperous countries on the continent.

Openness to trade is also the most significant determinant.

That's true. And this Agenda is going to do exactly that (not sure how, but whatever). Also, what did the Pope say?

Yeah, they pretty much just have kids so that they will support them when they're old. I wonder how crazy they'd go if they realized some countries have child support, they'd be breeding kids like madmen!

Thats not True Pope Benedict said ''Condoms help the propagation of Aids the only way to fight it is by abstinence and fidelity''

Vlerchan
August 21st, 2015, 10:25 AM
"In certain cases, where the intention is to reduce the risk of infection, [condoms] can nevertheless be a first step on the way to another, more humane sexuality."

He will stress that abstinence is the best policy in fighting the disease, but accept that in some circumstances it is better for a condom to be used if it protects human life.

Pope Benedict XVI very specifically approved condom usage only for male prostitutes in Africa to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS, not a general mandate of approval for condom use.

Besides, Pope Francis has so many better things to worry about, like global warming and youth unemployment.

There may be justified individual cases, for example when a male prostitute uses a condom, where this can be ... a first bit of responsibility, to redevelop the understanding that not everything is permitted and that one may not do everything one wishes.

Although it would be a nice prospect to have all of these things, the starter on the list is immediately impossible. People have been attempting to diminish and eliminate poverty for a long time and I strongly doubt that it is going to be gone in fifteen years. However, if I'm proven wrong then hallelujah - it would be a wonderful thing.

They do have concrete plans for it, they're just not willing to share them. If you go to the website I posted on the OP, you'll see they have hundreds of "micro goals" in order to achieve the 17 SDGs.

But you're right. A lot of the things they're saying are completely ridiculous and cannot co-exist together or even be attempted without some sort of genocide. They want to "dissolve" societies so we all become part of a unique global society (google Global Citizen).
