Hey,

I'm a freshman (14-15) and I'm about to start the sophomore year (15-16) in september. I was in a small private school since I was 11 and now I'm leaving the school.
I have the choice of 2 schools. And the decision is incredibly hard to do, and I'm looking for some advice on which school is better.
The first one is in FRESHMAN YEAR which is the level I did this year… but it's a completely different system, american schooling, with french and I find it super exciting as for language opportunities. But of course I'll be 16 soon, and the school will have only younger students than me. So in terms of age range, not perfect.
Study wise this school is really cool. One of the best in my town, and offers this american-french section to improve both languages.

The second school is just plain one language, private(doesn't cost much but the first one is free). One of the best in town, with good teachers and students. And if I go there I'll start as sophomore, not as freshman again in a way.

So the first school has the language wise thing that's awesome, but then I'll feel like 'restarting' the year. And the second one is good, but without the american-french section. And I got into the american section by passing exams, and it was like 30 places for 200 people of something, so quite hard to get in and well regarded. I don't wanna miss my place you know…

If you're wondering why I have a freshman class I can get into… and I should be levelled up, that's another subject, let's just not talk about it (too long, too complicated etc) Just consider it as
option 1. Freshman, american-french and 2.sophomore, one language and beginner german

Which school is better? I have like 2 weeks left to decide. THANKS SO MUCH

I'd personally go to the freshman year school because I mean you get more learning time, right? And like even though you may be redoing the same level, I think more education is better. Though, I might be completely wrong because I have no idea how American schooling works...

Yeah, that's why both options seem great.

If you are able to you should take German. Germany is powerful, and most books of philosophy were originally written in German.

But I think I would be able to take german in the american-french school as well, not sure.

If so, pick that one. In this very interactive global society, it helps to know several languages. Plus learning language stimulates your brain for other subjects.

In the end though, you'll make a better decision for yourself than the people who post threads called 'penis size??' Everyday.

Haha I agree in a way. I'll let time figure it out x) At least I know that no matter what decision I make, both are good schools.

If you're wanting to do languages in the future or you think that the French aspect will really benefit you with your education and won't just be there on the side because you barely use it, then I would definitely say option 1 no matter if you have to start the year again, the head start in your career opportunities will be worth it.

If you only want to take the French because it'll 'be good to learn another language' then I'd weigh it out a bit more. Sure the extra language is good but its not going to benefit you in any way if you end up going into science etc. It all depends on your future plans but I understand that at that age you might not have a clue, yeah, just weigh up the options or take tours around the schools if you can. The feel of the place in person can often sway your decision.

Thanks a lot for your answer. I completely agree. I visited both schools and I prefer the feel of option 2.

Hmm well I was in a similar situation because I could choose between being in a special highschool or a normal highschool. I went to the special one because I could always go back to the normal one if I didn't want to. Both sound cool, but I like French so I say go with that one.

I already made my decision, to go to the regular one, sophomore year one.
Thanks for your help. :)
