Hey guys I'm a bored music-loving guy and I want to express my feelings about the music I listen to, and I don't really want my family reading it (Because they're Christian), so I'm posting here.
I'd like to post one song a day and this is my first one. I will put a link to the song at the bottom of this page.
This song is an incredible song, and from the first time I heard it I thought it was absolutely amazing. Now normally I'm listening to heavier stuff, such as Dream Theater, Iron Maiden, Queensryche, Faith no More, Tool, etc. But I love Chris Cornell and this is one of his acoustic songs that really stood out to me (It's not HIS song, it's Audioslave's song "Wide Awake".
The song is about the victims of hurricane Katrina, and how they should've been alert and ready for the oncoming storm. A line that's repeated a lot is "I find you guilty of the crime. Of sleeping at a time when you should've been wide awake". Which basically says "You should not have been sitting at home, pay attention to what's going on around you.
Now that we've established what the song is about (Or at least what it means to me, and what Chris Cornell said it means during a live show), let's talk about Chris himself. Chris Cornell is an established guitarist/vocalist for the bands Audioslave, Temple of the dog, and Soundgarden. He has also been in other bands, but they are not really worth mentioning (He also ran a solo career). Anyway to end my rant, I think Chris Cornell is an amazing songwriter and this song really shows off how great he is.
