I have recently decided to start taking Saint John's Wort (Hypecium perforatum L., herba extractum siccum quantificatum) in capsule form, pharmacy bought. These pills are for as it says on the box for "mild depresionary states", which is basically what my state was at the time (3 days ago). I have been taking them for 3 days and I already feel great, no more of them deeply sad walies in my mind. Probably some thanx to placebo effect since I am aware of the studies done on this plant but also probably due to the medication itself.
Eitherway you are supposed to take them for 6 weeks, but what than? I mean it isn't smart to owerdo this sorts of things... Im probably going to need to face my physician.
The primary reason behind this post is:
What are your experiences with nonprescription medications of this sort? Positive negative? Have you tried heard? Opinion? Etc etc
edit: this is not pils taken without prescriptio, these are pils available without prescription and probably you cant even get a prescription for them since its a herbal extract (hurey for slo medical system)

To be honest. I highly advise going against it.
Now I'm one who did it without meds. Without any help. I just did what made me "Happy" so to say.
Now we all have addictive personalities and taking any form of "Anti Depressant" Is very addictive in the long run.
But then It's different for different people.
We're all different and the effects it can have on us are different.
You could either be happy or you could be happy released to the chemicals that get released in your brain.
Just because It's natural doesn't mean It's safe.

I am sorry for diverging slightly but I can't not take issue with this.
Anti-depressants aren't designed as such to be permanent. They are meant to help short-term to help you deal with things better - when prescribed for depression. They are meant to enable the person taking the medication to be better equipped mentally - through the lessening of acute symptoms - to deal with environmental and other factors exacerbating the depression itself.
Yes, they, like anything, can be addictive and it just depends on the person. But blacklisting them completely because something might be addictive isn't right at all. In my opinion anyway.

That's correct. But seeing with Pre-Adolescence consumption It's very harming for the long run.
