It's all a matter of perspective. I remember being surprised at how small some of my friends' dicks were, but then I realized it depends on what you think the average size looks like. Cause it's easy to imagine a size on a ruler, but harder to imagine it on a dick, so the way you think a penis looks is probably based on what penis you see the most (for example your own or the ones in porn).

Anytime your friend speaks about "how big his dick is"; immediately ask if he is a grower or a shower. This will prepare you to know why his dick is the size it is compared to what he is telling you.

If he is a grower, then yeah he may be smaller soft so don't underestimate him.
If he is a shower, he is just full of hot air :P That is if he is smaller than he says when you actually get a chance to see it.

And of course, when you ask the question, he will need to understand what both terms actually mean.
Grower: Dick will increase at least 2" or more going from soft, to hard.
Shower: Dick will increase less than 2" going from soft, to hard.

Normally the showers are the guys everyone thinks "Wow he is hung! Imagine how big it gets when he's having sex!?" and they are being fooled lol because he is almost already at his biggest size possible.

So yeah, before judging anyone, including your friends, just simply ask if he is a grower or a shower. Also, you should go ahead and check out which one are you. ;)

As people have said your friend could be a grower rather than a shower. Also I have been surprised a couple times, but not really. In the locker room sometimes someone really quiet is a lot bigger than the stereotype of a quiet guy would make you guess or like the baseball guy that all the girls love is pretty small, but then again soft size doesn't necessarily tell you anything about hard size.
