View Full Version : Where would you like to live?

What country would you like to call home? Are you comfortable where you are now, or do you want to move to a better place?
I'd like to work and live in the glorious Republic of Singapore. Arguably one of the best city-states in the world.
32% of Singaporeans have English as their mother tongue, and most of Singaporeans are fluent and understand English. "Singapore has one of the lowest rates of drug use in the world. Culturally, the use of illicit drugs is viewed as highly undesirable by Singaporeans, unlike in many European societies. Singaporeans' disapproval towards drug use has resulted in laws that impose the mandatory death sentence for certain serious drug trafficking offenses. Singapore also has a low rate of alcohol consumption per capita and low levels of violent crime, and one of the lowest intentional homicide rate globally. The average alcohol consumption rate is only 2 litres annually per adult, one of the lowest in the world."
Free of drugs and and low alcohol rates means a society that hasn't fallen into degeneracy yet. "How much more based can Singapore get?", you ask. Here's your answer:
"Today, Singapore has a highly developed market economy, based historically on extended entrepôt trade. Along with Hong Kong, South Korea, and Taiwan, Singapore is one of the original Four Asian Tigers. The Singaporean economy is known as one of the freest, most innovative, most competitive, and most business-friendly. The 2015 Index of Economic Freedom ranks Singapore as the second freest economy in the world, behind Hong Kong. According to the Corruption Perceptions Index, Singapore is consistently ranked as one of the least corrupt countries in the world, along with New Zealand and the Scandinavian countries."
But wait, there's more!
"The Singaporean military is arguably the most technologically advanced in Southeast Asia. It comprises the Singapore Army, Republic of Singapore Navy, and Republic of Singapore Air Force. It is seen as the guarantor of the country's independence. The nation's philosophy of defence is one of diplomacy and deterrence. This principle translates into the culture, involving all citizens in the country's defence. The government spends 4.9% of the country's GDP on the military, and one out of every four dollars of government spending is spent on defence."
"And how technologically advanced is Singapore?", you may ask:
http://www.richestlifestyle.com/most-technologically-advanced-countries/2/
"Singapore is a high-tech, business-friendly nation. It is a knowledge-based, innovation driven economy. The nation has fastest internet in the world. The home internet speed is up to 1 Gbps. All the citizens of Singapore own a smartphone. The nation is well-known for its high-tech infrastructure."
And you know what based Singapore has too? CAPITAL PUNISHMENT. That's right, kids! All murderers and drug dealers have their worthless lives terminated. And you know what's even better? If you're an expat and you're caught doing a serious crime you get shipped back to wherever the hell you came from! But wait, there's even more! In Singapore, if you are caught doing something against the law (naughty, naughty) the police fines you a ridiculous ammount of cash! That's why everything is so pristine and shiny in Singapore, you can't litter or park in unassigned spots!
This is all fine and dandy. But what are the downsides? Well, not many. Singapore has high rents because of high demand for land; owning a car is also super expensive, but the top-notch public transportation system is there to help you! To compensate for "poor pedestrian and cyclist safety", Singapore has "lots of doctors and facilities to choose from" (just be wary of unexpected upfront costs, goyim). Eh, nothing a good-paying job in the IT/Finance field can't fix. And that's it, the rest is just some bad weather moonsons once in a while to destabilize the overall summer vibe and some retarded road taxation system.
Now, tell me, why aren't you packing your bags and getting on a plane to Singapore yet?

Well it is nearly a one party government and the ocean near it is polluted. Those things are becoming better as you write this though. I guess the worst part is that you will be treated as a foreigner because you are white and you will have a non-Singaporean accent. I have a friend in Singapore, he says it's nice except that Chinese people are treated better than Indian or Indonesians that have lived there for centuries. Also that region is tense because of China spreading into southeast Asia. That's it though.

I actually like where I live because just to the East there is the Ocean and Beach and out in the Western part of the State there are the Mountains. I guess if I had to move anywhere in the World it would be Venice, Italy. It is just beautiful there and the gondola rides with my guy would be so romantic.

[...] their immigration policies are good [...]

:)*
---
* I'm of course being presumptuous here: 'good' is somewhat vague.
[...] low unemployment [...]
It won't last. It's unemployment rate is well below the natural rate and is maintained with reference to the colossal levels of inflation. Then because heightened current inflation (at t) contributes towards heightened public expectations for an inflation*, which results in a lower natural rate of output**, so the central bank must become more aggressive and create larger inflation in order to ensure the same level of output occurs in the next period (at t+1)***. This in turn contributes towards heightened public expectations for the next period*, and so on.
There won't be a fun end to this story.
---
* Because inflation expectations are set with reference to previous levels of inflation, plus some deduction.
** This takes a bit more explaining. Output is equal to the natural rate of output plus some determinant Z multiplied by the difference between target inflation and inflation expectations (X - Y) [plus a bit more]. If expectations creep above the target (Y > X) then Z becomes negative.
*** It wants to ensure that Z remains positive to ensure the same level of output.
[...] and better standard of living than Serbia.
It's still not looking great.

To be honest, goyim, Singapore is one of the most westernized Asian nations because of the British colonies. If anyone asks, they're as western as we are. I don't know how much degeneracy is there, but I wouldn't say most of the teens there today don't share a big amount of culture with us. I want to move there. Of course it's not a Blade Runner cyberpunk dystopia (yet), but living in one of the most (in my opinion) beautiful and technologically advanced cities in the world is what I want. We all know Europe is going to become a Caliphate, and Americans are falling for degeneracy. Asia will be the only place the white man can call home.
EDIT: By the way, I'm not a -boo (weeabo, singaboo) or whatever, I just want to live in a cyberpunk utopia. Doesn't matter where it is. Just give me skyscrapers, rain, neon lights and bionic limbs and I'm set.

Not really, but I know that the U.S. has (a) the strongest military, (b) the most diverse and accepting cultures and ethnicities(in most cases of everyday life), and (c) a certain value for its people and their rights that other countries simply don't have.
I feel safe here because I know that my military is protecting me and my rights and it's almost impossible for anyone to really pose a threat to these things. If one person in the Union tried to oppose my rights publicly, they'd never succeed because there would be so much opposition towards that person. These sorts of things give me security.
For the record, I went to Canada when I was like two, but other than that I haven't been outside the country really.

This is the English speaking world. Keep in mind that educated people in any county typically know English as a second or third language because it is the most taught language.
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e3/Anglospeak.svg/1280px-Anglospeak.svg.png
This is the Francophonie. Notice how it dominates Africa and Oceania. Most elites in former colonies know French and English. Also there is Luxembourg and Wallonia in Belgium. French very standardized but there are still many dialects and differences. The dialect of Quebec is most different from the Parisian one (pretty sure).
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/50/New-Map-Francophone_World.PNG/1280px-New-Map-Francophone_World.PNG
In contrast this is the Spanish speaking world:
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/38/Castellano_lengua_oficial.png/1280px-Castellano_lengua_oficial.png
This language is mostly in the New World except for Brazil. Many Brazilians speak Spanish but nowadays more are learning English instead. In addition Latin American countries all have their own dialect. The dialects aren't super different from each other unlike Portuguese or Arabic though.
If you want to live in Europe learn English, French, German, or Russian. That is probably your best bet.

I'm not pissed (I know better than to be pissed at strangers on the Internet, I've been using it for a long time), I was merely stating a fact. However, some advice : if you ever visit Quebec, then I recommend that you never, ever say this kind of shit, kidding or not. It's among the quickest ways to get yourself a ticket to the hospital. Especially coming from an English speaker, it's incredibly patronizing. Hell, if this had been in real life and not on the Internet, I would have had more than a few choice words for you. I probably also would have dumped your ass on the pavement and given you that ticket myself if I had a bad day, and I don't usually look for fights. I'm not a tumblr-tier fragile wallflower, it's simply that bad. Thankfully for both of us, this is the Internet and I know how to take banter.
It's just something you don't say - I don't think I could say anything about Americans or American culture that would be even half as offensive to you as that is to us. When a big part of a culture revolves around its language and its preservation against all odds, you just can't set yourself up as its judge as an outsider, especially when you speak the language of those who have repeatedly screwed them over the centuries and still continue to screw them today. By and large, we don't mind when people call us disgusting non-white mongrels or white supremacist xenophobic racists (the choice seems to depend on the day on the week), but to insult the way we speak is an arrow to the soul of who we are and nobody will take it well, no matter how even-tempered they may be.
Anyway, now that the cultural exposition is over :
Germanic influence on French actually wasn't that significant. This is because the Salian Franks were the first weeaboos and were pretty much as enamored with Latin culture as today's weeaboos are with Japanese culture. After flooding the place, they adopted Latin culture and the Vulgar Latin then extent in Roman Gaul extremely quickly. In fact, the Salian Franks were one of the very few Germanic peoples who actually liked living in the Roman Empire as laeti and did not necessarily view it as dishonourable.
Most of the changes that can be directly linked to Germanic are on the order of syntax, like switching the verb and the subject when asking questions (that's being abandoned) and increased auxiliary tense use, some aspects of phonology (some more arguable than others) and a few loan words, most of which are used only in specific contexts (ie. feudal relationships or war in the Middle Ages). Many changes brought on by the Franks were scrapped by copyists who sought to bring French closer to Latin. Some authors write that the amount of old Germanic (ie. which can be dated to the Frankish superstratum) loan words comprises around 1-3% of the French lexicon. Last time I checked, 30% >> 1-3%.
It is true that French is the most divergent of all the Romance languages, but relatively few of these changes were due to barbarian invasions, with most being simple in-house innovations. Besides, divergence with an ancestor has nothing to do with linguistic purism. When one speaks of linguistic purism, one doesn't mean we should go back to speak classical languages (anyway to be really pure you'd have to speak Proto-Indo-European which is impossible) but that linguistic evolution should take its course without recourse to outside influences.
In that sense, French is a much purer language than English ever will be and comparisons between the two are ludicrous at best. "Not buying" what I'm writing is tantamount to just ignoring the facts. To put it succinctly, English is a wanton whore. It sleeps around with other languages and gets pumped full of STDs and it's pretty shameless about it too. It even spreads them about without care or concern. There are very few languages in the world who have as many loanwords and fundamental syntactical changes brought on by foreign influence as English does. Especially in academic writing (George Orwell would say bad academic writing), it's perfectly possible to write a sentence where the content words (ie. not articles or prepositions) are exclusively Latinate in origin, whether from French or Latin itself.
I'm not a mindless English hater (I wouldn't use it so well otherwise) but English really has absolutely nothing to say when it comes to linguistic purity. Anyway this has gone off-topic for long enough. If you want to continue this then PM me.
