Now matter what situation I'm in I always feel out of place. I do have many friends but I always end up canceling plans with them because I'm nervous of hanging out with them - usually when they bring people I don't know. I wasn't like this in grade school, I was always socially active amongst everybody. Recently I've found it very hard to be in any situation. Even with family members I find myself feeling nervous. At random times I feel nervous about things I shouldn't even be worrying about. At times, I feel nervous for no reason I can identify myself. Do I have something wrong with me? Looking for advice.

I'm assuming you meant to post here. Either way you'll get better answers here. :)

It sounds to me like you might have developed some social anxiety issues. You should do some research on it and see if anything you can find describes your situation. Don't feel bad though, there's lots of people that have problems like this, me included.

Because you constantly must feel deep down that there's something to fear...ie fear people will judge you, fear people will think you're odd etc

You need to lose that fear and stop caring so much. Everyones too preoccupied thinking about themselves rather than thinking about others! Hope this helps

Hi CJ,

It isn't uncommon for some people to feel socially awkward during puberty however, if your anxiety is more than mild and becomes severe enough to interfere with your life, then you may need to see your family doctor. She may refer you to a counselor/therapist who could teach you some tools to help you overcome your anxiety. If the relaxation techniques don't work, you may be prescribed medicine to help you deal better with the anxiety. Talk with your parents about this and tell them just what you told us here on VT. Hope this helps.
