Let me introduce myself a little so everyone is in context. I am an 18 year old male who just graduated High School back in June. I will be attending college for a Degree in Software and Network Engineering. For the past year and a half I have been suffering from anxiety that appeared out of the blue, but no questions were asked due to the fact that it runs in both sides of the family. My doctor has prescribed me meds, but I refuse to take them due to the fact that my family doctor is a major pill pusher for profit and all the side effects of my medication is not worth the risk. So everyday I step outside I worry about 1000 things, not consciously although I do get anxiety attacks occasionally.

Ever since the beginning of grade 11 I've applied and gotten accepted a position at Pizza Hut. Simple job enough. The entire first 8 months I was fine working there 7 days a week, making heavy cash since I was working $11.25 (Ontario Min. Wage) and I loved the environment. Then the anxiety kicked in before the summer came along and started to feel different about my job. I didn't enjoy it any more, I narrowed down my shifts to 3 shifts a week, two back to back 6 hour shifts and an 8 hour shift later on in the week. But every day I walk into work it feels like I am walking into a bear trap, it keeps me there for hours on end and I can't go without severe consequences. I've wanted to leave ever since I got anxiety, so about a year now. But don't get me wrong, the people there are friendly, kind and caring. But it's just subconsciously I get annoyed by certain people which puts me into a very stressed out mood (Anger, Depression, Suicidal Thoughts, Guilt, etc...).

So I've been trying to leave this job for roughly a year now. But being fresh out of High School, with little experience and going back into school the following semester. Even though Pizza hut seems relaxing, the environment is just not healthy for my mental status any more. For the time during my college time I want to find a new, less stressing environment job, one that does not require working with food.

When I think about a relaxing job I think about working in a video store or a gas station. The only problem is video stores are extremely outdated and most gas station clerks are required to stand in one place for 6-8 hours a day which I could see stressing me out. I want to find a relaxing retail job where I can either work alone or with a small amount of people for the time being.

At this point I've handed out a lot of resumes and can't think where else to go. I would love to hear recommendations. If it helps the job recommending, I live in Ontario, the Greater Toronto Area to be exact.

I don't know if this is the easiest or most accurate suggestion, but you could try being a station agent for the subway system. Sure, you're sitting in a box monitoring patrons and answering stupid questions such as where to find a bus stop, but (at least for BART) i've seen them walking around doing maintenance on machines and such. Seems pretty easy and independent, and the pay definitely is above minimum wage.

Or perhaps a bookstore?
