So I'm thinking about joining the gym soon. Only thing is that I'm slightly nervous about is the potential idea of showering there.

Anyone here who goes to the gym - do you shower there? If so was it uncomfortable to start with (or even now)?

I do. some gyms will have it private where you will shower alone. some don't. It does not bother me even when I have to shower with others though. I do it at school anyways. you will get used to it

Its different in every gym. Sometimes your gym will have private showers and other times they will be public. I guess you could wait until you get home to shower and change. Personally thats what I'd do unless there were private showers.

You don't have to. You can always shower at home if you want to. I'm cool with it because I shower after sports anyway, but I don't typically shower at the gym. If you wait until you get home thats cool too

We all change and shower naked together with our gymn class. So I don't see any difference. But maybe some boys else where are shy.

I don't go the gym but some people I know do and I'm prettysure they don't shower there.

It was more uncomfortable being clothed at first because everyone else was naked. I shower nude pretty much all the time and showering in front/with others is easy to get used to

I don't shower at the gym. I'll change there and am not really embarrassed, I just don't feel the need to shower there.

If you're nervous showering naked around other people, just wait until you get home to shower

I don't shower at the gym - the showers are in cubicles but it's easier just to change my t-shirt rather than taking a whole change of clean clothes, so I shower at home.

I do shower there. I was abit uncomfortable but I get use to it. It is ur choice if u shower or not and don't be shy if you do. You will evebtually get use to it.

I go to the gym everyday and I have never showered there. I personally don't care about people seeing me, it's more about me having to see all of the naked old guys.

To be honest when I go to the YMCA or places like that I shower as quickly as I can and just avoid looking at anybody or anything but myself

At school I just rinsed off in my shorts, toweled off, changed shorts and underwear (if needed), and continued on throughout the day fully clothed of course.

I belong to a swim club at the local college and they have open showers, and it was kinda scary at first, but I got used to the idea; its not like anyone was checking me out (if they were I didnt notice) or anything gross like that. Everyone seemed to just shower and go about their business.

i shower at the pool. at first i was really uncomfortable because some guys stared at me. now i'm used to it. it's really no big deal. you just get used to it. don't worry about it. :)

Some showers are like toilet stalls, except with a shower instead of a toilet lol. Others might just have a row of shower heads on the wall. I wouldn't be worried about showering with others, they won't judge you

I go to the local gym/pool, and really don't mind showering after using the equipment.
The shower is one big room with lots of individual shower heads on the walls.

I kinda like the idea of showing off though, so, maybe that is why I like the showers.

You will likely find that everyone showers naked, so whilst they may look at you, especially if you are new, they are probably just checking you out/comparing.

This is the kind of thing you'll have to get over at some point in your life, that fear to be naked around others, so why not start now? :) The first time you'll be awkward, but everybody does it. You're not going to get weird looks or anything. Try to just enjoy it.

If you get all sweaty from an hour or two of lifting and cardio and then don't take a shower you are going to get looks. Because that's disgusting and nobody over a certain age(insecure teenagers) does it. If you don't take showers people will a) think you're nasty and b) that you are scared and have something to hide. Prove them wrong!

Most people in the gym will be in their 20s and 30s, probably. They won't feel the need to even look at you at all unless they're gay and have a thing for young guys. No reason to compare to someone half their age, either muscles or dick.

I go to the gym but I don't shower there I go home and take a shower. But I used to go to a gym that had private showers. But a pool had an open shower there's nothing to worry about.

I've showered there a couple times. But no one really cares cuz old Asian dudes are pretty much the only people in there besides me.
