First of anything hi!
Well during Afganistan Civil War and the time that Taliban was gaining influence in Afghanistan to become the ultimate power very soon after that, lots of Afghanistanis came to Iran as refugees and immigrants. Many of them were granted citizenship by then government, although later lots of them got involved in Drug Trafficing and other crimes, but still most majority of them were all but good.
Unfortunately since the time they entered Iran, many of them were abused as low-salary part-time construction workers by Building Dealers who were gaining lots of econominc power during Privatization of some economic sections of country, legal and illegal refugees alongside each others but mostly illegal ones, without insurance and job assurance,or become criminals mostly involved in drug related matters. However, many others who were nearly all legal citizens, succeeded to get really better jobs or become full-time enough-salary workers with equal rights to Iranian workers. Now I think most Afghans in Iran are legal citizens.
Anyway, recently there was a problem about illegal refugees' children for their education. They could not get to schools because of not being legally Iranians, but high officials decided that they must be granted that right to educate in public schools, even if they do not have money or any IDs.
I liked the idea but many are against it,saying that it would do more harm than good to Iran's recent-progressed economy and society and education system, but I believe it will lower the crime rate, let their talents and potentials to be revealed and at the end can be beneficial for both Iran and Afghanistan,if anytime they decided to return, but still it has its own opposition..
What do you people think about it?Have you ever had the same conditions in your countries too?
