Curly Hair

Why is it that society doesn't favor curly hair? That may be an abrupt conclusion but if you think about it. I feel like having curly hair sometimes has a negative connotation. like it's messy and not as attractive as straight hair.

does anyone else think this or is it just me?

Well, I have curly hair only when is summer because I let it dry naturaly. But other than in summer I have my hair straight.
I love my curly hair but some of my friends hate theirs and some other would love to have curly hair.
So I really think it's all about personal opinion.

Well I am a BIG fan of super super curly hair. I just love it and can't get enough of it. I have a friend of African decent and her hair is so puffy I LOVE it!

I have curly hair naturally and I hate it most of the time. Sometimes it dries right but that's a very rare thing to happen, that's probably why I hate it. It seems like people with straight hair just walk out the shower and do the same thing and it just goes exactly the same everyday. With curly hair, it's like a 50% chance it's going to go good. So, I just end up straightening it.

I have natural wavy/curly hair and I really like it. I do however sometimes get tired of it and straighten my hair sometimes.

Curly hair ruins my life. It sucked when it was long, it sucks when it's short. It just sucks.

I don't think it has any negative connotations necessarily, people with straight hair tend to want curly hair just as much as I want straight hair (okay, maybe not as much), but I think it's just a case of 'the grass is always greener on the other side'. With curls tends to come frizz which is probably the bit people tend not to find appealing, curls created by a curling iron are much nicer because there's no frizz or stray hair.

When my hair was long it was 80% frizz, 20% curl and now that it's short it just does its own thing and I have to blow dry and then straighten the hell out of it. Straight hair is just more appealing and easier to handle I think - you know what to do with it whereas curly hair is very chaotic and unpredictable. You need a million products just to tame it and make it look presentable.

I've seen cute guys and cute girls with curly hair. We're all different...some people will not care for it so much, some will not care one way or another and some will prefer it:)

I have curly hair and every single hairdresser I have ever met wants my hair.

Recently I started to straighten it however it goes more puffy so I look a bit like Hiro from Big hero 6. But I like it better straightened.

I don't really see any kind of negative connotation toward curly hair anywhere, ever. It is definitely work, but I like it and think it's a lot nicer looking than most straight or wavy hair.

It's not that there's a negative connotation to curly hair, it's just that there's a negative problem associated with it: it's so much harder to care for than straight hair the more curly it is. I envy you straight-hair folk!!!

I have naturally curly hair but for the past year or so I've been getting it straightened by a hairdresser. My mom couldn't afford it this time around, though, so she washed my hair and now it's back curly again. Honestly, I absolutely hate it and miss having my hair straight. I feel like I look better that way and it feels better, too.

Personally I think both straight and curly hair can look nice. As long as the curly hair isn't tangled and all then it will look messy but other than that I don't see anything wrong with having curly hair.

I understand that this topic is old but curly hair is such an interesting thing to discuss :) Besides I'm the one who have naturally the straight hair but I really wish I had the curly one so I can't stand from adding here a response :rolleyes:

I don't think that curly hair is favored more than the straight one, it's just that effect that people always want to have smth which they don't have :) I'm the same in fact, in my opinion curly hair looks so beautiful!
