As long as you make sure your hands are clean and your nails aren't sharp, you should be fine. If you were to use something else, make sure you do your best to clean it and that it isn't too sharp or too big.

No, it will not. I know some use lotion and shampoo before. So lotion are totally fine and it will not hurt u or cause inflection unless you have cut.

If there is a lot of excess, clean it up for sanitary reasons, but you should be fine. Next time you should just try to was it in with saliva because your anal fluids will keep it moistened. Have fun if you try it again ;)

I would not use any lotion or hand cream cause is intended only for thicker skin, not mucosa. Many hand creams and lotions contain alcohol and other harsh chemicals. Why not use Crisco (Trex) vegetable shortening or olive, rapeseed oil for it as long as it's not used with latex condoms (due to brake down). And it might be cheaper too.
Usually it's very hard to get infection there, there are bacterial content that helps to reduce any risks of infections. Another good way to make sure you don't get any infections is to wait at least for an hour after any enema or cleaning out until the natural mucus in the rectum builds up again (also helps to protect the skin).
It's quite hard to get infections there if you don't have any other conditions cause immune system is working quite efficiently in that area, but it's always good to wash your toys or any other stuff with soap or alcohol to make sure surface is clean.

the shea butter shouldnt be a problem as far as infections and stuff go unless you have cuts or open sores down there -- other than that, you should be fine. It is always best to keep your objects clean before and after using them, but you should also make sure that your insides are clean and free of ... stuff (you know).
