I heard a rumour that Adolf Hitler had only one ball, but he lossed it in the battle of the somme in 1916 after a groin injury, but i havent heard of a man being born with only one but i do know that you can live a normal life with only one, i dont know if it has any benefits what so ever.

I guess it is possible. I know a guy who was only born with one pectoral muscle. you can def tell when he has his shirt off. I guess technically you could get surgery to at least have a fake put in

I know a boy who only has one testicle and he functions as if he had 2 of them. Nothings changed for him, the dr told him that he can function like any other boy who has 2 if not better.

I assume it's just like anything else in your body, you're supposed to have two, but one can function normally by itself.

I'm wondering if this would effect the production of sperm?

Pretty much what people above have said; one ball can probably function as two.

I don't know anyone personally, though there is that song....

"Hitler, has only got one ball, the other is in the Albert Hall, his mother...."

Seriously it would be possible to have only one testical and be otherwise normal. The testicles produce sperm and testosterone. I would expect sperm production with one testicle to be half that with two (for the same person) but for most guys that would still leave them fertile. The testosterone level is controlled by a negative feedback loop via the hypothalamus and pituitary so that should be normal - the pituitary would produce more LH to stimulate remaining testicle to produce testosterone faster.

Yes, I had that.

But it's not like I had only 1, is that the other one didn't descend. The testicle is not always in the scrotum, it descend before birth or on the following months.

Most of the time, a boy’s testicles descend to the scrotum by the time he is 9 months old.

In most cases, the testicle will descend without treatment during the child’s first year. If this does not occur, treatment may include:

Hormone injections (B-HCG or testosterone) to try to bring the testicle into the scrotum
Surgery (orchiopexy) to bring the testicle into the scrotum. This is the main treatment.

Or a bullet...
I once read about an overly nervous robber who had a pistol in his sweatshirt pocket and got so shaky that he accidently shot himself in the hip, which is obviously enough to make a gentleman flinch, and in that flinch he pulled the trigger again and shot himself straight in the left testicle. I imagine that testicle was pretty well ruined after that...

My friend ony has one ball and he is fine, there is no difference. The only effect I can think of is producing less sperm. Thats all.

It's not a rumor, is a medical condition.

NO. It's the same to have 1 or 2 balls as is the same to have 1 or 2 kidneys.
