I used to when I first started masturbating. I felt dirty and down after I wanked. But I am used to the idea that masturbating is normal for teenage boy and I no longer feel guilty now.

It's normal to feel like that because you've released a lot of hormones when you cummed,endorphins and serotonin I believe.It leaves you feeling down and guilty because the happy hormones have significantly decreased since orgasm.Masturbation is not wrong and it's totally natural and normal to do it,despite what religion says.I used to feel bad after jerking off but I've realized that's it's normal to do it.I don't agree with Catholicism saying that masturbation is a sin.It shouldn't be because it's normal and natural.Even other animals masturbate.

What happens is here hormones make you horny and you react to that horniness by masturbating overriding of any messages you may have picked up from your religion or the people around you. At orgasm different hormones are released and suddenly you are not horny any more. If you have received messages from your religion or the people around you that masturbation is wrong you become aware of them again and feel guilty.

The problem will be worse for people who have a strong beleif in a religion which appears to prohibit masturbation but we can also be subject to more subtle sex-negative attitudes that start with adults trying to keep sexual things a secret in an attempt not to sexualise children, i.e. "preserve their innocence" (note even in that description a suggestion that sex is wrong).

For those without a religious conflict the guilt becomes less over time as we gradually recognise sexuality, and the expression of it, as something normal and common.
