The time has come. Time to choose some schools, try to get in, then see what is the best option for me. My test scores/GPA are decent it's crucial that my essay stands out. My question is how personal should I get? I have a history dealing with anxiety and depression and if I can put a positive spin on that I feel like it would be memorable. But I don't want them to not accept me becasue of my mental state... so what should I do? :/

legally I do not think they are allowed to not accept you based on your mental health unless you are a threat to others, which, based on what I have seen from your posts, is not the case,
I would talk about it in such a way you can show how you were able to be triumphant over those obstacles in your life.

You can't be declined based on you mental status based on mental status. I think writing about obstacles in your life, no matter what they are, and how you manage them is a great topic for a collage essay. Good luck!

And also, imo, write in your best qualities, and how you overcome your anxiety, write in personal achievements and experiences that might be suitable for the major you choose. From my experience, colleges want something real and young, someone that teens can relate to. So be as real as you can in your essay. Also write in a weakness or two to show that you aren't perfect, but put in what you have learned over the 17 years of your life how you surpass those weaknesses. Hope I'm of help, I just got accepted in Medical school 2 days ago, hope you get in the college you apply :) goodluck
