Tonsillectomy and I'm 20

Okay so I am just now getting my tonsils removed at 20. It's day 2 and I feel terrible. My mouth has so much drool and unquestionable mucus and my uvula is white and swollen... Eww. How do kids do this?

Any tips on recovery? II'm drinking plenty of NON acidic fluids.

I never had it, but ice cream. enjoy all the ice cream you can, even though that will still be rough going down at first

I had it done a few years ago. It's different for everyone and your body may react differently, but as far as tips go.. Ice Cream/Milk stuff is bad, don't eat/drink that because they can get stuck in your throat and fester. Eat like, italian ices or sherbert. You're going to be hurting, but they'll give you pain medicine that should help you sleep, so I'd sleep as much as you can. There isn't realy much else you can do besides just riding it out.

It's not nice after the procedure. Keep well hydrated, take regular Paracetamol and rinse/gargle regularly with lukewarm, salty water. (A teaspoon of salt mixed into one cup should do the trick.) That will keep it nice and clean. Do as you're doing and avoid things like acidic and spicy foods. Stick to a soft diet for now - it will make swallowing a whole lot easier!

Yes on a scale of 1 to 10 of pain I am at 2, I was at 8 the other day. But my throat still feels like it's swallowing a damp cactus.

The pain is in the first 3 days. If you can cope with 3 days of pain and slight pain afterwards then you can do it. Just get ready to feel insane.
