Im currently 13 years old. In a couple days I am going to have my 8th grade physical. Last year, in 7th grade my doctor made me put my pants down and look at my penis. Right now I have pubic hair and my parents dont know. They will talk weird and say im turing into a man and make a big deal of it and make me embarrased. Before my physical, should I shave? What else do you guys recommend?:mad::(

I would be fine keeping it, yeah they might say your growing up but isnt that a thing to be proud of? So what if they say you are turning into a man.

Hah, parents are awkward like that. I don't think you should do anything before your physical, I mean it is just a generic procedure and it doesn't require effort. So what if your parents make a few comments? All parents do it, they like to be embarrassing. [emoji14]

Parents will be parents. You will be fine for the physical. Their not going to comment to put you down their just proud of you.

i share a bedroom with my 2 year younger brother. we see each other nude all the time.
when my pubes first started growing he told my parents about it when we were having dinner. that was weird! but we laugh about it now. don't worry too much. remember that your dad has pubes so your mom expects you will grow them too.

Like pjones, I share a room with my brother and we have both seen each other naked and watched each other develop through puberty. My parents have too. It's not really a big deal, or it shouldn't be except we make it a big deal in our minds. If nothing else, ask that your parents leave the room. But if not that, then be glad you are becoming a man, be proud of it. My mom has always sat in on my physical and really it doesn't bother me, but you have to figure out how to make it work for you. But remember, its just your parents, and you SHOULD be developing and growing pubic hair. If you don't have any, they might wonder if you are okay.

naw that is just what parents do. you could always ask to do it without your parents were in the room. I know by 12, I would always go in by myself

Yeah, what Seth said. At least, why can't you be in there without your mom? I think you're getting too old to have both, or even any, parents in for your physical.

When I was 12 I started going in the exam room by myself and my parents sat outside until I was done then they talked to the doctor after. IF your parents have to be in the room, when it comes to the point where you have to drop your pants, turn you back so they cant see your junk.

Wether you shave or not they're going to know that you have hair, because of the stubble. And I don't really understand why that's a big deal, everyone has it. If for whatever reason it really bothers you, you could ask them not to could ask them to not come to the physical?

My parents (mom especially) are always like this. It started with my armpit hair which she (mother) referred to as a little bush every time she saw them. And then muscles (more defined due to athletics during school) which she squeezes anytime she gets close to me. I don't think she has seen my pubes before (or anything below the border now that I think about it) ever since I was 12. So it depends. Maybe your doctor will ask her to step outside, she won't come in at all, or you don't have to face her when you do it. Either way it's fine, and you'll do fine. But if she does see it, you can only prepare for sly remarks regarding your hair from time to time. Hope this helps!

It's not that big of a deal if they see it, I'm sure they've already assumed that you have pubes since you're around the age when they typically start growing. If having your parents see them really makes you uncomfortable you could always ask them to step out until the doctor is finished.

Don't worry about it. Most doctors will make you turn away from anyone else anyway

Your parents know you have pubes and even if they do make a big deal of it, be proud that you're being recognised as turning into a man.
