I used to get them a lot, still do get them but not as often. Jerking off didnt seem to change the frequency much. I like them, I just wish I could predict them so I wore underwear to bed that night. I think some guys just never get them, even if you dont j/o. I dont think you can change it... you just be happy with how you are.

Wet dreams seem to be mentioned in much literature about puberty almost as a development milestone, perhaps because the authors of the literature concerned have found mentioning masturbation taboo. In reality the development milestone is starting to ejaculate and it doesn't matter how that happens.

That's an interesting observation. So, apparently, in some guys masturbation/ejaculation reduces wet dreams, some not. It does kind of defeat the theory of "full" glands or a means to release accumulated sperm. Although maybe that accumulation isn't fully released in masturbation? Lots of questions still. Not that it matters, but its interesting.

In my own experience, when I was 14 I started having them once or twice a week, and for a few months that was consistent. I had ejaculated during masturbation already, but I was in the stage where my cum was still clear, and it had been for a few months. Puberty had been slow till then, and suddenly it hit hard, like 100 things happening all at once. Then the changes slowed down a bit after a few months, and the wet dreams slowed down and stopped. I thought they were over. But then they came back, not as often and they came and went, and still do. I like to find patterns in things... and wet dreams, at least in my case, don't follow the masturbation pattern, aren't affected by it. The theory I am starting to believe now is that they depend on my mood, on my state of mind. When I am in a depressive episode that lasts more than a day or two, I get no wet dreams. I also don't feel horny much or at all. At those times, I still jerk off some, but don't feel the intense need to. On the other hand, when I am happy and active and spending a lot of time outside and excercising a lot, I feel horny 24/7, and I get more wet dreams, and if I am on a real high (not drugs, just life) I might get them once a week or sometimes even more often. As soon as my mood evens out, they slow down or go away. Its possible that it's just coincidence, but I haven't decided. I also don't understand how hormone differences affect mood, or if it works in reverse of that (mood affecting hormone levels).

It would be interesting to hear if other boys have noticed a pattern of when wet dreams occur, and if it is really tied to masturbation, or if people believe that just because its what they have been told.
