View Full Version : How many friends do you have?

How many GENUINE friends do you have? I'd like to think that anyone who says they have over 12 genuine friends is lying. A genuine friend is one you'd hang out with any time (or have a legitimate reason for not wanting to), one who you create memories with. One you can talk to and are most comfortable with. One who understands you decently well. Most importantly, you guys make an effort to be friends. You can include friendships that started or are mostly cultivated online as well (that's what VT is for anyways!)
Including long-distance friendships, I have 7 friends who I care enough to call my friend. Unfortunately, only one of them lives in my immediate area now days (so much for all my high school "friends"). Shout out to these people for actually sticking by me throughout time, no matter what shit I am or they are going through:
- Jordan (BFF for 13 years now!)
- Brandon
- Alex
- Romeo
- Tranq
- Sydnie
- Suraj

2 close friends from school that I've kept in touch with. Genuine friends I've made in the past year at college? Probably one tbh, maybe two. Then Aaron (Thunduhbuhlt) is the only person that I'm still close as fuck to from VT.
So 4/5

I will say 5, even though 3 are long distance, and 2 I don't see often anymore.

I have many friends. There are few, though, that I know I can trust entirely and am entirely comfortable to discuss anything around. It is even quite hard to discern who these friends are, which is troubling. Some of my friends are quite good and I almost feel that I could entirely connect to them, but I simply do not feel a real connection. They are still merely casual friends.
With that being said, I think I have only one or two friends that are very close.

About 5-6 and then those from my work family. Can't say I'm close with anyone on here anymore, we've drifted away.

Have you ever been in a situation where you have one true friend but that person thinks that you're just a regular friend? [emoji26]

I have a few friends from school/college, and a few from online.
I wouldn't say I'm that close with any of them though...

I'll be a friend to anyone but I'm really picky about who I call my friends! I've got very few who I'd class as mates.
One girl (Charlotte) I've known since I was 5. She moved into my village and we got on like a house on fire. I lost touch with her for quite a few years but started seeing her again a few years ago. Another is a guy (Mitchell) I met during my second year of college. We rarely see or talk to each other but if we lived closer together, he'd be my best mate. We're so similar that it's really easy to hang out and neither of us have to compromise much when it comes to deciding what to do. Another guy (Chris) from college. He was doing his first year while I was doing my second and we got paired together for a task. Instant pals.
A girl (Bonnie) who I worked with. Again, instant friends. We don't see each other often but, like with Mitchell, if I lived closer to her I'd slap that "bestie" label on quick.
I hang out with a consistent group of 8 on a daily basis and wouldn't class any of them as a friend of mine. I was actually thinking about this earlier today as I just created a new facebook profile and decided I only wanted people I class as friends on there, and had to decide whether I accept a request from some of the 8 people I normally hang out with or not. I've just left the requests pending. :whoops:
I know a lot of people who don't know how to be a friend to someone and I think that lack of knowing what a friend is (and how to be one) comes from calling everybody who took the same Science class as you a friend.
"Call yourself a friend to everyone instead of everyone a friend to you."
