So I am going on a vacation abroad in few weeks, I will be staying for 12 days. The problem is my cat, somebody needs to feed her. I tried turning to family and friends that live close to me but they go to their vacations at a similar date. I asked my dad can I bring her to him (my parents are divorced) and he said he can't, that he is busy etc. Yeah, he found work after lazying around for more than 3 years, but he works 8 hours a day tops. The time the cat will take is mere 5 minutes, just feed her and pour her some water. I also added that I would bring all the food and other stuff but he said maybe. Knowing him, that 'maybe' is like a 'no' which I will get a few days before the trip. How do I deal with him? I never asked anything serious of him, hell, I wouldn't even turn to him if I had an alternative. This one time I ask him for help in my time of need after countless times I helped him in his and he blows me off.

I would take her to the pet hotel but it costs money and she would spend the time in a cage and probably fall sick. If dad refuses, I'll probably have to buy a ton of food and pour it out and hope my cat knows when to stop eating, or not even go to the vacation which would suck.

oh we have left our cat home for a week before. just put water around the house in multiple places and do the same with food. she was a little mad when we got home, but she was fine .
you could always send your cat to me though. I may get too attached to send it back though haha

We do the same thing when we go on vaca, but my grandmother also sometimes stops in to check on them. Hate to say it, but your dad sounds like a dick. Cats are waaaay better than people anyway ;)

my cat is one of my best friends. it is nice if someone can check up once or twice, but in the end, your (OP) cat really should be fine

Yeah, can't you have any neighbors stop by to check on your cat? It's not like they need a lot of attention, just a drop by. And I agree, you're better off keeping that cat away from your "dad." And I think there are other forums that could help you deal better with that sperm donor you call dad.

Is it possible to take the cat with you? We always take our pets. Of course we never go anywhere exotic.

Well, I wont say your dad are jerk because I dont know him. I see not everyone have patients for animal. I like animals but I dont like to keep them because of responsibility. If my sis or friends ask me to keep a cat or dog for a while, I will say no because I dont know if I can take proper care for them. If you dad turn you down because of a cat find someone or somewhere to keep your cat safe. You say your parents are divorce and you sound like you live mostly on your mom's side if that is the case. I can see your dad just doesnt want to keep the cat. I don't really see any problem. I know your angry but you will understand it actually nothing really matter.
