i bring this topic up because jo and i watched titanic on saturday night. we both really got into it (i hadn't seen it before). jo was full on crying during it and i had tears in my eyes, mainly because i know this is based on a true story and that all those people really did die. so to date, this is the saddest movie i have seen. whats the saddest you have seen?

Well, one of the saddest movies i've seen is The outsiders, well Johnny dies from getting burnt trying to save the kids from the old mill house, it was so sad in the hospital when he died, he told ponyboy to 'stay gold' which means never to lose appreication for the things one finds wondrous when one is so young.
I've read the book at school a few times, and i have the film on dvd, the quality is so clear from the old videos i watched upon at school.

Probably Stepmom. I know thats weird because it is a sort of comedy but I think it is a very good story and one that a lot of people can relate to, cancer killing a family member. But the one scene that gets me is the one where Isobel and Jackie (Roberts and Sarandon) are in the bar and they say this;
Isabel: Look down the road to her wedding. I'm in a room alone with her, fixing her veil, fluffing her dress, telling her no woman has ever looked so beautiful. And my fear is she'll think, "I wish my mom were here."
Jackie Harrison: And my fear is... she won't.

Hm. There are a lot of movies that have made me cry at points, but I don't know which is the saddest overall. Hotel Rwanda really got to me and, I hate to admit it, but I cried the first time I saw The Notebook. The ending was just so sweet. I had tears in my eyes during I Am Legend, the poor dog. The only movie I ever really fully cried in though, was The Fox and the Hound. The first time I saw that, I was just sobbing, when the old lady drops the fox off in the forest, and that sad music is playing, and he's just looking at her like, "Please don't do this! I love you! I'm domesticated, I can't survive out here in the wild!" And then I looked at my mom, and I said, "What's wrong with me?!?" because I'd never cried over a movie before.

Even though I don't like the movie, I'd say Pay it Forward is the saddest movie I've seen. The saddest movie I've liked is probably The Titanic or We Were Soldiers.

I agree The Outsiders was very sad. I would have to say that the saddest movie I have ever watched was Fried Green Tomatoes. Within the first 20 minutes of it I was crying. As soon as Buddy was hit by the train I lost it. And when the guy is trying to take the baby. It gives me the chills, and makes me want to cry.

alfie - well the older version - always makes me cry, though it is my favorite movie.
i cry whenever he had gotten harry's wife pregnant and the abortionist performs the procedure and afterwards when alfie walks in he sees the fetus in a boiling pot and loses it.

I can't remember the saddest film i've seen but the saddest TV moment for me was The Royle Family in the last episode ever called The Queen of Sheba, which eventually had the nan die in it. It was so well done and so well acted strange for a comedy.

A few others that make me cry...
Forrest Gump: in the end when Jenny dies, it gets me everytime
Pay It Foward(as already stated): the kid dies after being stabbed
The Green Mile(as already stated): John Coffey was innocent, and a good man!!!
Cruel Intentions: though one of many corny 90's teen movies, it's still sad when Sebastian dies saving Anette.
Homeward Bound-The Incredible Journey: my sister and I used to bawl our eyes out everytime Sassy went over the waterfall = (
The Perfect Storm: They all die and their bodies are never found
Armageddeon: When the guy who sacrafices himself to blow up the asteroid, and the last thing that he thinks about is his daughter before he blows himself up.

The saddest movie I have ever seen? Well, every movie with Jean Caude van Damma makes me wanna cry...
But no, for real, I think Schindlers list is a real sad movie. Ya know, seeing the little girl in the red clothes hiding from the nazi's, then later seeing her lay dead on a cart... makes me real sad.

I thought the end of Click was really sad, until we found out he didnt die.
Titanic wasnt that sad, we all knew they were going to die anyway.
Forrest Gump(already stated) had a pretty sad ending.
Armageddon(already stated) was sad when the guy sacrificed himself.
