View Full Version : Circumcised today and afraid

I think it belongs rather here than to VT General Hospital. If not feel free to move it.
My brother had his circumcision today. It was for medical reason because the balanitis he suffered from for some 6 weeks left scar tissue that tightened his foreskin.
The operation went well but I caught him sobbing when I passed his room an hour ago.
I thought he was in pain and asked him. He started to cry and told me he was horrified from the changes he has to cope with now.
As I am uncut I could only comfort him rather than answer his questions:
- he believes he might be unable to jerk of without lube anymore because his circumcision is apparently very tight.
- he is afraid of the reaction of his class mates who may joke about it
- he was told by the doctor not to be sexually active for at least 3 weeks
- he is afraid to sleep because he got a boner this afternoon and it hurt a lot and he does not want a stitch to pop open.

I'd like to tell him your experiences because I feel so sorry for him and have no answers.

- he believes he might be unable to jerk of without lube anymore because his circumcision is apparently very tight.
I am uncut but still use lube pretty often. Cut or uncut probably makes little difference. Almost everyone I know is cut, and I don't think most of them use lube either. But if he has to use lube, is that bad?

- he is afraid of the reaction of his class mates who may joke about it
Kids are mean. No way around that. But some guys think that circumcised penises actually look better. Where you live, it's probably a rare thing to be cut, but I think there might be some a-holes that tease him at first, but it won't last long.

- he was told by the doctor not to be sexually active for at least 3 weeks
3 weeks would be tough. But since having a boner hurts, I'm betting he will have no trouble with not jerking off. Just encourage him to be patient, and he'll make it. Maybe avoid talking about things that make him horny, and dont let him watch any porn for those 3 weeks. But even if he has wet dreams in the meantime, that won't matter since it doesn't rub his penis.

- he is afraid to sleep because he got a boner this afternoon and it hurt a lot and he does not want a stitch to pop open.
I would think a doctor would take this into account. They know he is going to get a boner sometimes, so they probably made the stitches loose enough to allow for it. But they have to be kinda tight too, so they'll stay at least some what tight when he is soft. It's like, they have to be tight enough to hurt a bit when boned, so that they won't be too loose when soft. If its real painful though, you should ask his doctor about it. Maybe they can do something to make it more comfortable.

Edited to add: I hope he gets better soon. It's a major trauma, I cannot imagine what he must be feeling. Tell him that lots of us are thinking of him (if he knows you've talked to us). And just be patient, he's going to have a lot of ups and downs, maybe even depression, with something this traumatic and this personal. Don't be afraid to ask his doctor LOTS of questions.

Well, he could believe what he wants but it's false. Millions or tight circuncised men jerk off without lube, like me.

- he is afraid of the reaction of his class mates who may joke about it

Well, is he the only one cut? No one Jew, Muslim, Protestant, etc or other like him who needed because of medical reasons? Anyway, the answer to that joke is always : "What are you doing looking right there, it seems that you like it".

- he was told by the doctor not to be sexually active for at least 3 weeks

Well, it's a minor surgery, but it remains a surgery. He will survive.

- he is afraid to sleep because he got a boner this afternoon and it hurt a lot and he does not want a stitch to pop open.

Well, the doctor is supposed to give him analgesics but it's normal to feel pain, it means that it's healing.

I'd like to tell him your experiences because I feel so sorry for him and have no answers.

You can tell him from me, "welcome to the club"

I'm birth circumcised, so haven't had the experience your brother is having, but I have read about it
from others.

One thing is that it is going to look pretty scary for the first week or so, but then he will "turn the
corner" and it will improve rapidly after that.

For night time boners some have suggested getting into the fetal position - knees drawn up against
chest - to take some of the stress off. Others have suggested keeping a glass of cold water
next to the bed and immerse the penis in that if he gets a boner.

Lots of guys who are circumcised don't use lube. He may need to use lube at first, or may want
to use it for variety, but eventually will learn to do it dry.

He may be unnecessarily worried about teasing from others. Nklarke above has given one
good retort, but also he can point out that it had to be done because of medical problems.
And now he won't have those problems anymore. He may ultimately decide to be proud of
his new look. There are guys who get it done just for the sake of appearance.

The doctor says 3 weeks of no sexual activity - some doctors say as much as 6 weeks, others
say less, and some guys say they very carefully masturbated in much less time.

Leon,
Remember, and remind your brother every 10 minutes if you have to, that lots of us are thinking of him, AND that lots of people have been through this, and survived and been happy.

I cannot even imagine his thoughts. I love my foreskin, I don't know if I could ever be brave enough to do what he has done. I know its "Minor surgery" but its Major Emotional Trauma. We're here, Leon. I'm glad you are there with him to help him and encourage him.

As for hurting, I had a combination pain killer and antibiotic. I would assume your brother has some meds as well. He should take them regularly since it is important to maintain levels in the bloodstream.

Yes, three weeks hands-off. After two, I cheated a bit after two, very carefully. Not suggesting it, just saying.

I never told anyone about it at school. Info gets around so fast. The only thing I can remember is changing at a pool (6 months later) with a circumcised friend. He looked for a second, as if he knew something was different but did not know what. I live in North America where circumcision is not unusual, so I can't say what the European experience would be.

My unit works and feels fine before and after. All these rumors of circumcision ruining feeling are nonsense.

I had for same reason 4 months ago and of course he will be able to play without lube and it will loosen over time as heals maybe 1 month looser and once stitches out wait 4 days and he should be able to play and this will help loosen and use vasaline to help make scars fade and with playing too if he wants for a bit and yes you get boners but just don't think about it or make it worse and at worse needs drugs if you do or stitches should be fine he will be fine :-) peace be upon him and he should rest and sleep and tell him not to worry about his class mates it will be fine just don't advertise it and also I don't use lube before or after but can be fun with lube but never needed but before lube was nice but fine how if is without lube cut

I am cut and I can jack off with lube just fine. maybe he will want to use some, esp at first. even if he does need it, it is not a big deal.

- he is afraid of the reaction of his class mates who may joke about it

Will, I know being uncut is the norm over there. some guys will be a jerk. It was for medical reasons. If people give him too hard of a time, turn it back on them, have him ask them why are they so interested in his dick. make them feel awkward.

- he was told by the doctor not to be sexually active for at least 3 weeks

That is just something he will have to live with.

hmm this one I am not sure what to say. I don't know what the doctor told him about this. the doctor should have given him something for sleep/pain/whatever. he could always ask the doctor, I mean, guys get boners, he is not the first who got a circumcision later in life.

Thank you all for your help.
It has been the second day today after the operation and he feels a lot better.
The tip to sleep in fetal position helped him a lot. As well as to push the shaft skin towards the tip when he has an erection to relieve the stitches.
He is through that mate thing too now haha. He had mates from his year over to visit him and to bring homework.
Their reaction was super cool. They were curious but felt sorry for what he has to go through.

anyone that makes fun of him for having a circumcised penis is the worst kind of person there is. tell him there is nothing wrong with him. he had a medical thing so he needs time to heal and he will be totally fine. i'm circumcised and mine is tight and i jack off like a champ! tell him he's going to be totally fine. he just needs to get used to seeing his head all the time. :)

It is his fifth day now and he is quite confident that everything will be ok soon. I don't know where he got this because his dick looks like if a steam roller had run over it :P
Yet that masturbation thing bothers him quite a lot and boners are frequent because he is not used to his head rubbing his boxers all the time.
Thanks to you guys for supporting.

Your English is excellent.

You can search threads in these forums for other guys who have been circumcised as teens.
Seems like they tend to say that after about a week they feel much better, and especially
after getting the stitches out they feel good. Some guys have suggested wearing snug
briefs for a while to keep the dick from banging around, but others seem to prefer loose boxers
or sweat pants with no underwear. And that feelings will keep changing over a period of
months, so it certainly won't always feel as bad as it does now.

I am pleased to hear he is making progress. He will have some swelling and it will look like a beached whale for a few days. The head rubbing is the strangest part of it but after awhile you don't really notice it.

Hi mate, as you mentioned - the surgery is physical trauma to the actual site. By virtue of the actual body part in question, there are many nerve endings involved. Of course it would be tender in the very beginning! But the body is remarkable at fixing itself. I am sure that it would be continually feeling better with time, as his body heal itself with time.

The abstinence would be to better allow his body to heal. That's why the doctor would have asked for three weeks break. This is of course just temporary. In addition, why worry about it, if he has limited control of when he gets random erections, which are a natural thing? And he definitely needs to sleep after all! ;) The best thing would be to lay low for a while and let things pick up after a short period.

As for not being used to the rubbing of his head with underwear, I'd suggest wearing supportive underwear in the meantime.

Hope it helps!

Totally agree with this. Stop j/o in the meantime allows it to heal.
For the head rubbing against his underwear, well, he will be used of it after a few weeks or so.

It's been 2 weeks almost and my brother got kind of used to his new 'Little Lukas'.
He is fairly sure that he will find a new way to masturbate when everything is completely healed :yeah: - so no problem here :D

But:
He is going to get the remaining stitches out tomorrow and he is concerned now that without the support of the stitches the scar might rip open again if he gets an erection because his circumcision was done fairly tight. I told him to share his concerns with his doctor but he does not want to talk about erections to her
-- Does anyone know if this can happen even two weeks after circumcision?

Although he got used to his bare head rubbing his boxers he has painful moments when his meatus (piss slit :P) gets caught by his underwear.
-- Is this going to fade with time? Or is this something circumcised guys have to live with?

Thank you guys again for your support

I would say that if his doctor is taking the stitches out, she probably feels comfortable that the circumcision is healed enough as I am sure it is expected erections are going to happen. And as long as he isn't rough with it I think he should be fine and probably follows the original advice of three weeks. I would check with the doctor anyway. I'm sure the doctor has heard all the questions and its nothing to be embarrassed about.

I am circumcised as well and never have had an issue with the meatus getting caught on my underwear (boxers). Maybe he needs to wear looser underwear if he isn't already?

Good luck and I am sure he will enjoy masturbation again!

I'm really glad to hear he is doing ok!
Sometimes, you just have to trust the doctor, and she wouldn't take the stitches out if she had any fear at all of the incision re-opening. And our skin is really stretchy.... so I am sure there is some room for expansion even without the stitches.

Just remind him of the minimum 3-week limitation... no reason to injure it, although I can really understand why he might be impatient.

Update us.

I hope during his ordeal you did not masturbate?

It sounds like everything is going to be ok.

My brother was cut at 12. His decision. But he loves it better than uncut.

Hope you 2 have fun.:whoops:

Hey, another Leon! :P

Well, surveys have shown that most of women prefer circumcised penises, and that's what matters the most, because that's what he's supposed to do with his penis, right? :D

I don't think he should worry a lot about it.
