A few days ago I finished listening to her first album :) I liked it despite that fact that Ariana seems to be a commecial project in the music industry :P I can say that for now I have four favourite songs from this album and it's a rather good statistics for me :D For example, one of my favourite is "Lovin' It', "You’ll Never Know" and "The Way" :rolleyes: I read on Ariana Grande Space (http://arianagrandespace.com/ariana-grande-the-way/) that this song is unique for every kind of your mood and now I can say that it's true :) Maybe because of that it became a hit :rolleyes:

This album can be pretty confusing and misleading to those who don't know all the details. Looking at the title, one might think it's an entire album by Gib Guilbeau and Gene Parsons, but that is not the case. It's actually a compilation that serves as a partial retrospective of the work of Gib Guilbeau.

The first 19 tracks on the album are a series of songs recorded in 1967 by the duo "Cajun Gib & Gene" (Gib Guilbeau & Gene Parsons). They were recorded for the Bakersfield International record label (owned by Gary "Flip" Paxton, formerly of "Skip & Flip" with Skip Battin). These recordings and others from that label served as the genesis for the Country Rock movement, as many were made before the International Submarine Band's "Safe at Home" and Rick Nelson's "Bright Lights". Backing Gib and Gene on several of these recordings are Wayne Moore and Clarence White, making them unofficially studio recordings of The Reasons (aka Nashville West). While most of these songs went unnoticed at the time (and in some cases, unreleased), many of them would go on to be rerecorded by Gib later on in his career ("Workin' on a Tugboat" & "Desperation's Back Again" would both be redone by Swampwater on their first album). Several of these first 19 tracks were packaged together and released as a Gib Guilbeau solo album called "Cajun Country" in 1969.

Track 20 is a real gem. It's a demo recording of Gib's "Louisiana Woman" (the opening track of Swampwater's first album). Backing Gib on this recording are Gene Parsons, Clarence White, & John York. Gib and The Byrds (minus Roger) jamming together. How awesome is that? I really hope there was more to this session that's gonna be released one of these days.

Tracks 21 and 22 the A and B sides of a Gib Guilbeau solo single from 1969. They are the two best songs on the album. Gib is backed by an all star lineup: Clarence White on lead guitar, Gene Parsons on drums, Wayne Moore on bass guitar, Red Rhodes on pedal steel, & Glen Hardin on piano. It don't get much better.

The final three tracks are Bakersfield International recordings Gib made with other artists, including fellow Castaways Darrell Cotton and Wayne Moore.
