So I was on YouTube and learned that Studio Ghibli has gone on hiatus and perhaps has done it's last movie.

To those of you who don't know this is the Japanese animation art studio that made some big classic hit movies like:

Princess Mononoke

Spirited Away

My Neighbor Totoro

Just to name a few.

Their last English dubbed movie is "when Marnie was there" and I urge all of you to go watch it has it has a strong theme of finding the self especially if you feel like an outsider, and is a really good slice of life animated movie.

Be prepared for tissues though.

As far as I know they're working to manage their copyrights and previous works at the moment.

Upon first viewing this thread I was under the impression that Studio Ghibli had actually closed and a pang of sharp, brief sadness hit me. Then I looked around for news and was relieved that there were few recent occurrences that pertained to Ghibli.

For reference, Ghibli has actually simply indefinitely ceased production to focus on its productional and directional future without Miyazaki. Indeed, this future without Miyazaki can understandably be expected to inflict a huge dent, given Miyazaki's immense impact and resounding influence on the culture of not only the studio but anime as a whole, in Ghibli's status and foreseeable path.

However things may go, one thing is certain though. A Ghibli without Miyazaki will definitely be a different Ghibli. In culture, in style, and in all the subtle nuances of animation. I personally would love to see a New Ghibli style, but we'll see how things turn out, won't we?
