I think a guy's penis size matter more to him than it does to anyone else. For some reason guys equate a bigger penis with being more manly, hence the exaggerations and phalic architecture in which men construct status or even building that are reminiscent of a large penis.

It is interesting to note that human have disproportionately big penises for their size compared to primates and larger than is needed for successful sex. I heard the suggestion, from Desmond Morris, I think, that this is more to intimidate other guys rather than please girls.

As for girls, I think some would find a bigger one sexier than a small one, all other things being equal, but I think there are many other things girls assess in a guy and penis size is quite far down the list.
