I'm looking to message my crush who I've never spoke to before over Facebook. I don't know how to go about this as I don't know what she likes or anything so I don't know what to say. Because we've never spoke im worried I come across as being weird so if anyone has any tips to help me to message her without seeming weird that would be great thanks

Yes, how is it that you know her?
You could start with a simple "hey", but you may not be comfortable with that, depending on how well you know her/how you interact with her in person. That's what I would start with, but here are some other ideas:
1. Take an opportunity to bring up something that she's interested in? For example, let's say she plays the guitar: you could send her "hey, I've been told that you play the guitar, I'm looking to get in to it myself, do you have any recommendations/what music should I listen to" etc.
2. If she's in a club at school or whatever, you can ask her about it, "are they still accepting members" etc. Also if you do end up joining something like that, you might have more opportunities to talk to her in person.
3. If you've got similar classes/exams, start with something about that and then push the conversation forward from there?
4. If you have a mutual friend, get them to start up a group chat that includes both of you? Group chats can be a lot of fun, and then you'll also be able to casually start your own chat with her from there.
Good luck!

Start with a simple 'hey' and get talking. You can ask her about her hobbies and what kind of things she's into and keep conversation that way, or discuss upcoming events that you might be attending and ask if she's going to them as well.
At the end of the day she's another person just like you so it should just be like talking to anyone else.

These are all really great options. I guess just try to be calm and relaxed. When people get nervous they tend to get uptight and rigid which can make others uncomfortable. And worst case scenario is the feelings aren't reciprocated, but hey, this happens to everyone. It's gonna be fine, man.

When you message them, just say the usual hello or hey, and then you could say "I kinda like you and think your cute and was wondering if you wanna go out with me" or if you you don't wanna come on to her that fast, start talking about what her favorite animal is and what she likes to do and then say ^ that. Keep us updated :)

I know her because I am in the same school as her and the same age, but I'm in none of her classes :(
