View Full Version : Drop in Sex Drive? (Guys around 18)

Recently I've noticed my sex drive decrease quite significantly. When I would once masturbate once or multiple times a day, it's not uncommon for me to now go 3-7 days without jerking off or having some kind of sexual encounter. And it is worth mentioning that yes, I can still get aroused. I just don't really feel any urges to masturbate or have sex before bed each night; and when I do finally decide to masturbate or have sex with somebody, I don't really have trouble "getting off".
I don't really understand why. It's like I turned 18 and then with a snap of a finger I don't really have the urge or see the need to masturbate daily anymore. It could be the medicine I sometimes take, but I doubt it. Is it just a temporarydip in my sex drive, or is it just something that "mellows out" around this stage in my life? I mean, my puberty stages came at the average times so it could be.... just curious if any other dudes around my age have gone through the same thing.

It's probably just that you've finished or are coming towards the end of puberty so your hormones aren't as active. It's probably nothing to worry about.

You probably shouldn't worry it's more likely hormones being inbalanced temporarily

I agree with them. It's near the end of puberty. Your hormones won't be as crazy as they originally were. :)

Are you often stressed out, emotionally drained? That can be a factor.
Puberty does not end until age 20-21, to say the least. Your sex drive decreases years after.

I'm 19 now and I know that you don't stop growing till you're 25, but I still have a high sex drive I think and that may be different for each person but personally I can say that I have t seen that change

I have not had a sudden drop in sex drive, though some things do settle down as you get older, like fewer random erections.
What is the medicine you are taking? SSRIs (inc. Prozac) tend to reduce sex drive but they also list difficulty achieving orgasm as a side effect which you say does not apply to you. It is probably worth checking. Do drugs come with a patient leaflet listing side effects where you are? If no you can look them up on the net.
Have your personal circumstances changed, for example going from school to college or going from education into work such that the times you'd usually be horny you are tired instead?
I don't suppose it is anything to worry about. As long as you do still get horny sometimes and feel like doing something about it.

I know exactly what you are talking about, except with me, it kinda goes in bursts, like one week I'll go at it every day but then the next I'm just like, eh... so maybe it is like a hormone thing or possibly stress. Would be worth looking into.
