While its probably unlikely, is anyone here involved in hunting or the shooting sports? Does anyone want to learn more about these or possibly get involved?

Yes! I've been involved on my school's archery team for the past 3 years. It's target archery, though. I hope to one day get into hunting archery and have just recently bought my first hunting compound.

I'd love to learn and get involved in them but UK law, you can't use a bow or crossbow for hunting, and gun laws are a pain.

I've been fox shooting plenty of times if that counts, they're vermin here.

I've been heavily involved in hunting and shooting all my life (USA) mostly with concealable handguns, actually. I have gunsmithed for a living, to include selling bullets that I cast out of wheelweight lead, ammo that I reloaded, Silencers that I made, submachineguns that I made, all sorts of stuff. If there's anything that you'd like to learn about this stuff, I'm your source.

I hunt, and am decently involved in firearm shooting (not for sport, though.). Handguns, rifles, shotguns and the list goes on.

Well there ya go, haha. What do you hunt? I mostly hunt whitetail deer, black bear, and turkey. I would love to go to another state and hunt, such as Alaska.
Another question, what are your favorite guns so far? Mine are my .308 rifle, .41 mag. revolver, 45-410 Judge and .50 cal. muzzleloader... so far.

Well I love all upland bird hunting (pheasant, quail, and dove) ss well as waterfowl. For big game, I mainly hunt white tail dear, but I do regularly hunt mule dear and elk. I have hunted bear and moose in Alaska. My favorite of the North Amerircan big game to hunt is definitely the elk. The most difficult North American hunt is definitely goat/sheep because of how physically challenging hunting in the mountains was. I have also been lucky enough to hunt in Africa. I was able to take many plains game including a Kudu and am going back to Africa when I graduate so that I can hunt dangerous game.
My favorite hunting rifles are almost all Cooper Arms riles (as well as some weatherby, Dakota, and winchester rifles). My favorite cartridges are the 6.5 Creedmoore, .257 Weatherby, .270 win, and .280 Ackley Improved. I sometimes hunt with my dad's .300 Weatherby. We are considering buying a .338 Allen Express rifle made by Dakota Arms. My dad also has a Heym .450 Nitro Express that we have hunted bear with and I will use to hunt dangerous game.
My favorite hunting shotguns are my Fox Model B, which is a side by side 12 gauge. I have a Remington Model 1100 12 gauge that I use a lot for clays. My waterfowl shotgun is a Beretta Xtrema2. For high volume doves, I like the Benelli Montefeltro 20 gauge. I have a couple more shotguns that I don't use that often but still like. My dream one day is to get a Purdey side by side shotgun custom built for me.
As far as handguns go, my mom carries a Springfield XDs 9mm and my dad carries a Ruger SP101 .357 magnum. We also have several 1911s in .45 ACP and some large revolvers. My favorites of the large revolvers are a S&W model 27 in .357 mag, S&W model 29 in .44 mag, and a Bowen Arms custom Ruger Alaskan in .454 Casull.
I also do a lot of bowhunting with a Bowtech Insanity CPXL.

I like a lot of those that you mentioned as well. Bow wise, I have a Mathews Mission Menace compound that I hunt with. I also have a Browning longbow.

Big money talk there. I have only 4 guns and 1 of them I would not have if the pocket 9mms had more durability and if I did not love to shoot so much. Because of those 2 factors, I have (3) Sig P938's. One of them "wears' the Sig .22lr conversion unit. I also have suppressors for both the 9mm and the .22. The tax stamp for each is $200, but I made the "cans" myself, saving over $1000. Only one of the Sigs is a carry gun, so it is the one with the luminous sights. The others are "practice spares". I don't shoot the carry gun much, and the wear and fouling of practice thus are on the guns that don't matter if they fail. I 'mine" the dirt berms for lead, smelt down the metal, cast my own 125 gr lrn bulllets, and reload the "weakly", at 800 fps. The "carry load" using the spare barrel, rechambered to 356 TSW, is a solid copper hollowpoint, weighing 45 grs and driven to 2200 fps. Thus, it has 9x18 Makarov type recoil, but hit with the same 500 ft lbs of energy as a 4" barreled 357 Mag revolver. I like that, in a pocket gun. I've taken deer with it, from a tree stand, like archers do
. I love to take elk, but they are too big for my handguns. In a sporting sense, my rifle an AR15 in 223, is "too underpowered" for elk, but Bell took hundreds of elephant with a 7x57 Mauser, which is only twice as powerful as the 223. So I just do what he did. I restrict myself to brain shots only, inside 50 yds if I am standing, to 100 yds if I have something upon which to brace my rifle. if i can sit, the frame of my backpack does twhe job.

I've been hunting roughly sense the age of 10. While I've never hunted outside of Nebraska, I've killed turkey, pheasants, white-tail and goose. I mainly use my Compound Bow, but I've killed deer with rifles/muzzle-loaders and some turkeys with shotgun.
I'm sort of a gun nut, however my interests lie in historical firearms. To this day I've shot every standard issue rifle used in WWII by the major powers (U.S, Germany, Russia, U.K, France, Italy, and Japan). My one gun I'm seriously wanting to get is the Finnish Mosin Nagant varient M39. My great-great uncle used one, and I think it'd be a neat rifle to have, regardless of my opinion on Mosins.

If you know how to focus on what matters, you can achieve PLENTY, with much less expense. Instead of bragging about the money that you've inherited, spend the money on iNSRTRUCTION, and have ABILITY. Any retard can "own' things. Search youtube for Rob Pincus and Jerry Miculek. lots of good info between those two
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyIq9FdTgwM this is miculek
you can "mine' the dirt backstops for lead, using a rented metal detector to show you where to dig. Use a wooden box/frame and overlapped screen wire, so as to "sift out" the 22lr and other bullets. a leave rake can pick up 22 bullets and lead fragments (around where steel targets were hit) right off of the surface. Youtube vids about how to smelt down the lead and cast your own bullets, also about how to reload your own ammo. You can set up to reload properly, for about $300, with Lee precision's pro1000 progressive loader, from Midway Reloading. About another $300 will set you up to cast bullets properly, All in all, you can cast and reload about 150 rds per hour, producing 9mm's for 6x per shot, not buying them for 26c per shot. so youre making $30 an hour while you cast and reload.
the ability to hit the mark, SLOWLY, is just kid stuff. Doing it faster than the next guy (who is pretty good) is the mark of the master shottist
Rachel is pretty cool, too. :-) She calls herself the "Patriot Nurse" on youtube and she teaches medical classes all over the US.

Yeah I hunt rabbits and birds, and id take a go at a fox if I saw one. Unfortunately, its difficult to get firearms above .17 because of the troubles etc here in ireland, so my dad and I just stick with the .22. We mostly shoot rabbits anyway and it does the job. My dads mate has a 7.62 though. And he recently bought a Lee Enfield from 1966. So ill be getting a shot of that!

Uummm, I don't think anyone in this thread was bragging about money that they have inherited. Everyone here is just shooters and hunters talking about our shared passion. Im sorry if someone said something that offended you.

I don't agree with hunting for sport personally but shooting I always enjoyed when I was younger. I had air-rifles and stuff and my mum used to have a friend who owned a farm and I did shooting there.

Never tried shooting sports. I've wanted to do archery, but I doubt I'll practice.

I've done shooting and hunting with my stepday for my 13th we got some new legal air rifles in the uk. My best shop was getting a rat in the eye from just over 30 meters in the dark.
