i write very well, it comes to me easily, I can write in many languages.
Today my class had a meeting with this writer and she said that I have a great potential, because she has read some of my work, and that she loves it and she hopes she'll see my books on shelves.
She's a bestselling author.
Do you think I can be a writer? Does her comment mean I'll be good?

I think you have a pretty good chance of being one after her comments. Don't waste your talent, go for it!

Literally anyone can be a writer. I think to really have an enjoyable career as a writer you not only have to be good at writing, but you also have to actually enjoy writing. It should probably be something you do frequently in your free time.

RD is right. The key to being a talented writer(and anything for that matter), is to be passionate. I consider myself a good writer and have received much praise from my teachers in the past from my writing assignments. I considered maybe pursuing a career in it, but dropped that as it's not really a hobby of mine. You could definitely be a writer, but ultimately what's most important is if you want to be.

As long as you write everyday and stay confident in your work, the possibilities are endless in your future writing career

If that's the case, then I think it's best to start off small. You'd be surprised how easy it can be to publish a book on Amazon. I've never done it before, but I know someone else on VT who has done it who just made an account recently. The hard part of the process is actually writing the book. I've never personally written any books, but if you want to then my suggestions would be as follows:

1)Make sure you get other people to read and criticize your writing before you submit it for publication. You'll want to fix all the grammatical, spelling, vocabulary usage, and perhaps story errors that you can before it's actually published. This will give your book a nice, polished impression on its readers.

2)Take your time in the writing process. It's really the most important part. Really get the idea of what you want the story to be in your head before you start writing, and then describe it all on the paper as you go.

3)Keep the passion. If, at any point in the writing process, you get bored or begin feeling like it is more work than actually fun, then it's best to take a break. You'll have to wait for more writing inspiration to hit you, then you'll get more passionate writing.

Best of luck :)

Try and join a creative writing club or class. I took a class as an elective and we were able to help each other improve and better our stories. There is always room to improve and practice makes perfect so if your serious about it try and meet with other people

I would say if that's what you enjoy go for it. Even if you haven't fully developed you're writing style keep writing and practicing everyday. Have you every heard of NaNoWriMo? I think you would like it. The thing with making it a career (I also aspire to be a writer) is that if you want to get published it can be a long and tedious process. Just remember to keep trying and don't give up!

Thanks guys! You're being really motivating.
I've always wanted to be a writer, and I know that it's a hard path, and there are a lot of books out there, and it's hard to get your book noticed (Well I mean I think it's all about the genres people read so if Romance and Horror are the most popular genres you should write that) but then your own fun counts, and you should definitely write something you aspire to, and something you find fun.
I have started a story, just to practice, even if the plot is rubbish, the try will be the best part of this.
Cause I know it's hard to come up with a sudden 400 pages long novel.

some great advice. and to the OP, I think you are basically telling us you can be , the question is do you want to be?
