So the thread title might seem like a bit of a tongue twister, but I'm actually confused about it myself.

Today, I looked at my Event Viewer on Windows 8.1 for the first time. I found a folder named TerminalService-LocalSessionManager. I know there are plenty of different folders in Event Viewer, which is completely normal, but apparently TerminalService-LocalSessionManager (I'll just call it TSLSM for short) has something to do with Remote Desktop Connection?

The plot thickens; I found 1,765 events of it occurring in the ''Operational'' sub-folder.

So what is TSLSM, and why is there 1,765 events dedicated to it, yet I've never even activated/used Remote Desktop Connection?

this is what it looks like;

Thanks!

According to https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc722017%28v=ws.10%29.aspx ...

Microsoft-Windows-TerminalServices-LocalSessionManager

The Microsoft-Windows-TerminalServices-LocalSessionManager component is responsible for starting the computer and implementing Microsoft Windows Fast User Switching (FUS). FUS utilizes the data separation technology of user profiles, providing a fast and convenient mechanism for switching between user accounts.
Terminal Services uses terminal emulation to deliver Windows desktop and Windows-based applications to a wide variety of desktops.

Note that the link only specifies TSLSM's use up to Vista, but it should be the same for other Win OSs.
