I was at the bus station today, and the bus driver got out while everyone was getting in and left the bus running. Keys and all. SHould they be allowed to do this? People wonder how transit gets bombed. It's pretty easy like that! And sometimes they stop out side the coffe shop and get a coffe, leaving the doors open, passengers in, engine running.... What do you guys think? Should they be allowed to do this?

hmm... dude i dont think they should. what would it take for some unruly passenger to just start driving away and holding everyone hostage?

ya its called TURNING OFF THE BUS first. how would you feel if your mom stopped your car at an intersection in the middle of a rough neighbor hood, opened up the door and just strode off

I'd jump in the drivers seat close the door and drive off
or id reach into the bck seat and grab one of my dads many shotguns and let the fuckers try n do anything

No one in their right mind is going to do any of that with all of the people on the bus.

u get dessignated coffe brakes. Its not like in the middle of school i can walk out and get a coffe, but this is a matter of security. God, take the keys with u!

my daddy is a bus driver!
and anytime i was on the bus with him he never gets out with passengers on, no drivers do. my dad has designated breaks, if he is getting a coffee, he will either make sure all are off or get someone in the airport to get one!

maybe they do that in toronto, but not here in NYC.....they dont leave the bus when passengers r there and when i do see them on coffe breaks is before their shift starts and they take the bus infront of the store to get coffee or lotto tickets, lol

I think a lot of poor people ride the bus cause its the cheapest way to travel. They need protection like everyone else. Sad isn't it.

Well they dont tend to do it much in England (iunno bout other places in europe) because you don't just pay a fair, you buy an actual ticket.

The bus isn't just for poor people, its for economists, people who cant drive, people who dont want to take their car for some reason e.g. parking fees.

I personally love the bus. It's just sad about the competition for specific routes. Stagecoach and Arriva are gonna collide one day, and when that happens, I DO NOT want to be in the U.K.
That doesn't count for North America as we have goverment funded bus service.
But Tim is right, We have advertisments everywhere rpremoting the transit (which sucks). The thing is, yesterday night, I got on a bus going southbound and I was going Nrothbound, because I knew there was only 1 fucking bus on the whole route. I ahd to take it all the way around the loop, but better then waiting on the streets of toronto at 11

I didn't think of that.

This may sound wierd from the son of a bus driver, but I prefere trains. Buses are usually small compact places, and if you are on a Bus Eireann coach, its soooo small i feel really sick! But on the train, I get discounts cos of my dad, and its really quick, there isnt usually wating its usually good and efficent for me anyway, but if there is a delay im not waiting in the cold or in the rain, i could go into the station house!
I have always loved trains, just not too much though.

I use the bus often to get into the city, or other places around town. I can't and wouldn't use the train because it is much more expensive and the only station is in the city itself so thats no good! :P
Our bus service is specific to Brighton city. I can get into the city and back for just 80p.

im sorry, but if ur gonna debate....maybe you should add some backing to your reasoning such as:
i believe that the bus drivers shouldn't leave their keys in the ignition and the bus running. this has been known to increase the chance of bus hijackings and terrorist situations.
u may also want to add (to prove your point) an actual documented case where this happened (as if it had)
i personally believe this would be a violation of local and state laws and the bus driver would get fired. if you were to read the rules and regulation of ur local city bus transit system, (i do not have the time or the will power to do so over such a weak fight) i am sure there would be something about leaving the bus and especially leaving the bus running with passengers.
i have no domb in my mind that if something like this were to happen, the bus driver would be fired and some serious regulation changes would be made by the city.

:spam: Why did you post a post you new would flare an argument? And do you know how boring that would be to talk like that? VT is a place to have fun, not put people down, or try and start arguments.
I think bus drivers should not be allowed to just walk out and leave the bus, ONLY because that would make me even more late then I probobly allredy was. (damn you astin transit)

To me that is rude.
Matt countered:

Just countering the other kid because we do not need to be told how to debate.
why?
because youre afraid of me and know i'm right?
Now this kid is being a prick by trying to start a fight.
And further listen2beastieboys eggs matt on my trying to keep the fights going.
Nothing is matts fault Josh. Read some of the posts before you come to conclusions.
