Hi everybody.
Im not sure if this goes here, but I cant see it fits anywhere else.

For a week or so Ive experienced lucid dreaming almost every night.
Lucid dreaming is that you in the midst of a dream realize its a dream and act on it. Im not sure that Im able to control it and wish what to see, but I can explore.

The thing is that before this started to happen, I very rarely even remember dreaming.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Any answers why this suddenly starts?
Im not trying to get rith of this "ability". But Id like to know more.

Thanks

I think this is fitting for ROTW.
I have lucid dreamed before, and it is quite amazing. However, everyone has the ability to do it. It's almost random in occurrence. By my knowledge, it is easier to lucid dream if you think about lucid dreaming before you go to sleep. It usually will only happen for me if I'm sleeping for a long time and deeply so.

Lucid dreaming is an amazing phenomenon; the act of controlling your dreams is something everyone should try. Since I've gotten interested in it the beginning of last year, I've had six. It's not that many, but with the study of dreaming, I've been able to notice very unique things in my dreams, including precognition. :)

The best way to remember more dreams is to write them down in a dream journal. When you get up in the morning, stay in bed and think about the dreams you just had, and try to remember them. If you can't, that's fine. There will be days where you won't remember them until later, and there will be days where you might not remember them at all! But do keep track of them, as this will help you focus more on dreaming. It will also allow you to pick up on things that may help you become lucid later on. For example, your dreams may tend to involve a certain person, or a place. When you notice this, you'll then be able to do so while dreaming.

Also, reality checks are a BIG thing that you should know, or else your chances of having them are slim. There are many online, all of which are helpful. I find the finger through my palm one very effective, as well as the hand through the wall. :)

There are also numerable methods you can read about. I could go on about this topic!

I saw an interesting thing somewhere on the interwebs that said that most people lucid dream at least once in their lifetime but get so excited they wake up. Thats what happened to me once, but not again yet :P

Yeah, it's very common for that to happen. The best thing to do is to make sure you remain calm, and don't get too excited.

I hear there was a process to begin lucid dreaming? Like having to stay awake in the same position for 30 minutes without moving any part of your body? Is that true?

I've heard a lot about lucid dreaming, how it's such a cool experience but also scary according to one of my friends, he has trouble defining which world is real and which one is the dream and apparently some scary entity chasing him around.

Some people think its dangerous?
My friend seems to think so and does it also cause sleep paralysis?

Ah sorry for all the questions. I just keep thinking about trying it.

Well lucid dreaming normally takes a trigger to make you realize that your dreaming ie.Constantly pinching your arm when your awake make it a habit and you will do it in dreams to and since you don't feel pain when your asleep the pinch not having pain will act as the trigger. For lucid dreaming being scary that is probably false as lucid dreaming is usually used to get away from the scary nightmares and terrifying ghouls of the sandman. Hope this answers any questions.

That's a technique known as WILD. It's way of working is to allow your consciousness to stay active, while your body goes into sleep. You have to do this after some hours of sleep, so having an alarm for the middle of the night is really helpful. There's also WBTB, DILD and many more! Also, it isn't dangerous. Sleep paralysis is something that occurs during WILD, and you can easily counteract the fear you could have by researching how to turn this into a lucid dream. Also, sleep paralysis occurs to us every night when we sleep. The difference is that when doing this technique, you're mentally aware while it's going on, so it can be a bit startling!
