View Full Version : Unfairness at the doctor

Every year, my mom takes me and my twin sister to our pediatrician for a check-up. When we go, we always get examined in the same room. Up until this year, that hasn't been a problem since the only thing she (our doctor) did involving our private parts was stick one hand down the front of my pants to check my testicles descended. It was a little embarrassing getting this done by a female doctor in front of my sister and my mom but it wasn't that bad considering it was just for a second and my pants didn't get pulled down so they could see anything. But yesterday when we went to get check-ups, something different happened. When the doctor examined my sister, all she did was ask a few questions about her period and hair growth and stuff (as usual), and when it was my turn, I was expecting a quick hand down the pants, but that didn't happen. She told me that now that I was a teenager, she would have to do a more detailed check. She pulled my pants down and grabbed my balls and made me do the cough thing, then she took my penis and checked that my foreskin pulled back, telling me that I had to do that every-time I peed or took a shower. She then started talking to my mom about how even though I was 13, I was still on the small side and hairless. In total I was naked in front of my mom, my sister, and this doctor for about a minute. I think the worst part is that my sister, who has not seen me naked since we were babies, now knows exactly what I look like, that I'm a late bloomer, and I never got circumcised. Why didn't the doctor make my sister get naked also, and why didn't she make her leave when I had to get naked? This whole thing is so unfair.

I get its embarrassing next time just ask to do it in private. There nothing wrong with not being circumcised. Or being a late bloomer.

Just tell them ud rather do it in private
Better to tell them ur uncomfortable than to be humiliated like that
If they say no well then therebare laws against that in the us, uk and the majority of un countries

Ok here in California those checkups are the exact same as yours. I would suggest getting a male doctor because I was in the same scenario as you when I had a woman doctor. If not, ask her you want your mother and sister out. 9/10 times they will say yes.

If your twins your sister if probably bald or almost bald. I'm betting that if she's started puberty at all she's not that far ahead of you.

Nope. I googled it and I saw an article that said that on average male and female fraternal twins start puberty like 2 years apart. And even though she didn't have to undress, the doctor still like asked her questions about her development. She also showed my sister a picture of 5 naked girls (The first girl was flat and had no hair down there and the fifth girl had big boobs and a bunch of hair on her part) and asked which girl looked most like her and my sister said that if she went for a while without shaving she would look like the girl in the middle. The doctor said that that means she's a "Tanner Stage 3" (I googled it and thats like a puberty scale thing). When she made me strip she said I was still a "Tanner Stage 1" then pulled out what I guess was the boy version of the picture (I looked similar to the first boy but my penis is like an inch and a half shorter and isn't circumcised) and told me what would happen when I hit puberty. I can't post links because I'm new to the site but just google "Boy-Girl Twins: 5 Things Parents Need to Know" for the article and "Tanner Stages" for the pictures she used (I don't know if the exact ones are on there but you can probably get a good idea.

how do you know for sure that your sister was actually telling the doctor the truth?

I don't think your doctor should have done that in front of your sister and mom but you shouldn't worry about puberty, because everybody develops at different times!

First, there's nothing at all wrong with having your whole body, including your foreskin. In fact, consider yourself lucky.
With that in mind, you don't have to pull it back to urinate. However, you *should* pull it back when you shower... if it's a gym shower, pool shower or another "quick shower", then not necessary... all you're doing at the gym is basically getting the sweat off, right? No need there.

This is unfair, but you don't need to worry about being a late bloomer, girls mature faster than guys in any case. You need to speak with your mother, and tell her that you would like for her and your sister (or your sister at least) to step outside for a minute while you get checked out.

I don't really see why this is such a big deal. I'm sure that all the doctor did was pull his underwear down just a little bit to feel for a hernia it's not like you is on display for 10 minutes or anything.

I don't think it was okay for the doctor to do that without your permission because it could obviously be very embarrassing.
If you are not happy about it, you should ask to do it in private later. I would also consider asking for a diff doctor if you don't feel they respect your privacy.

I'm sure it was just a fast look.
