Never donated blood I would happily do so I've had over 10 blood tests easy , it should be bad you'll just feel a bit light headed afterwards

I think my school is having a blood drive soon. I'm a little freaked out by blood, though. I don't think I'll do it but it is definitely a great thing to do. Maybe when I am older I will.

I will surely do right after I got rid of NUE exam.

I think you can do it on your own free will at 17 (maybe 18 though)

just go to the hospital/clinic, they may or may not do a test, but they do it everyday

It's good that you're keen to donate! If you want to do that, then you should, especially if you have a rare blood type! The blood bank will check if you're suitable to donate with their health questionnaire and then with a quick check of your blood count. It's definitely for a good cause and you should if you can! Good luck!

I can't donate blood but I personally encourage people to do so if you're able. You never know who might need it.

I am a registered organ donor though.

It's 17 in Canada but I can't say I know about the United States or other countries. In the US, I'd assume it probably varies by state like everything else does.

Ive done it a while back. It looks more scary that it actually is. The whole process takes about half an hour then you are done.

Ive done it. Its not bad, its for a good cause and at the end you will feel fine and they give you free snacks and a shirt. Thats what they did with me.

I'm fairly certain it's 16 with consent, 17+ at free will across the board in the U.S. I've considered it, but haven't actually. I can't handle shots or needles, and I'm overly sensitive to any pain. My dad does as often as he can though, and my mom can't. If you're lucky enough to have the O- blood, it's a great thing to donate. And even if you don't, it is. Hopefully, I'll be able to someday.

Go for it man. You have good blood that people need and you can do whenever you please. I did it a few months back, there was a bit of pain when they put the needle in and out of you but other than that I felt fine. Just beware... It takes so long.

I'd definitely donate blood, its always been one of my plans to, to give back. It only hit me the other day that being anaemic means that I can't and because the supplements aren't doing anything, means I probably never will be able to. Sucks. If you're healthy and the blood tests come back clear, I definitely would if I were you.

Giving blood is a great thing to do! I'm actually registered with the New York Blood Center after donating so many times. However, until you're registered, you have to make appointments with the Blood Drive. Once you get your registration card with your blood type (The only A+ I'll ever see is my blood type..) you can just go in and donate. Sidenote: If your school hosts blood drives and you donate, you get to miss like half your classes ;D

If you are eligible, do it! It is a fantastic thing to do, and it helps so many people out.

I used to donate blood, but they don't like blood from people who have had tattoos in the last six months.

I kind of want to, but I also get queasy at the sight of blood.

I see the charity value of donating blood, but it takes a lot of convincing just to get me to let the doctors take a small amount of blood drawn to run tests. I have a phobia of needles, and I don't think I could convince myself to donate blood.

For me it wasn't bad. It depends person to person, but no matter what eat a very large breakfast (and lunch). By large I don't mean tons of food, i mean lots of protein and cards. You also what to be well hydrated, but not too much because i believe they wont take it if your blood is too thin. And if you are worried about the needles, they don't hurt. They don't even feel like shots. And once its in, if you don't move you cant really feel it.

Its not that bad. Just make sure to eat large meals before and after you give it though, because your body needs to replace the blood

Donating blood shouldn't take too much out of you so long as you stay hydrated.

Donating plasma is what will really end your day. When you donate plasma you get extremely woozy and feel like you're going to pass out all day (at least the first time, times after that felt better).
