Hey guys, so a couple years ago I had found something called PLEX, and only recently realized that I can use that to make my entire media collection portable and playable at school. I mean, Chrome OS has lousy media support.

I find it quite nice. And considering how slow my computer is, I can still get perfect media playback, even if I am doing other things while media is being served to a device at 1080p with 5.1 surround.

But again, what do you guys think?

I tried it out a couple years ago and remember it being bloated and not working like it was supposed to. I'll probably reinstall it and give it another try, will post results.

Just remember the file name formatting rules that Plex needs, because your stuff will be ignored if it's not following the rules.

I've tried it, but found it quite demanding on bandwidth. It is ok when connected on Wifi, but out of question with 3g/4g. That would eat my monthly quota too fast.

I have tested it on a Raspberry Pi 2, but trans-coding possibilities were limited, so I didn't keep it on.

So mixed opinion - looks nice, but doesn't do all what I need from a media center system.
